His real name is Gerald Michael Rivera. He was born to a Puerto Rican Catholic father and Jewish mother.
When he went to Brooklyn Law School, he went by the name of Jerry Rivers, because most of the other students were Jewish, it sounded Jewish, and he wanted to fit in.
“Geraldo” was just an attempt to make himself sound “ethnic” when he, as a young lawyer, represented Black street gang murderers.

Cruz isn't antisemitic, Geraldo's charge is absurd. Not living anywhere near New York I've never heard the phrase New York values. When I was younger I did hear the phrase New York Jews, which applied to loud mouthed, obnoxious, pushy Jewish people. Never heard it applied to a non Jew. Maybe that's what New York Values is.

Ted is not an anti-semite. An absurd implication. But in politics it’s not about truth it’s about creating a fiction and repeating it enough times so that it can be portrayed as truth. Ted, implicating Trump’s campaign in violence by inference because of the obstructionist and violent aggressive behavior of the left is getting a taste of his own medicine.

Everyone outside of New York (I was born in NY and spent the first 30 years of my life there, moved to Texas as fast a I could) understands perfectly well what Cruz meant by his "New York values" comment. New York is rightfully perceived as a state overrun with government nannies and gimme-thats, snobby, uber-liberals, and gun-grabbing, big-brother types. Their philosophy plays well in other liberal states, but in conservative country it's a rallying cry to fight.
Funny, I don't see people getting their panties in a bunch when folks mock Texas (our drawl, our way of life, our values); that may be because we are slightly laughing at the Yankees and praying they never come here.
If Cruz had referred to Maryland Values instead, as a Marylander, I wouldn’t have been offended, because I could figure exactly what he meant. Trump turned “NY Values” around by referring to the police and firefighters on 911.
So what is Rivera saying, exactly, anyhow? Is he saying that Jews have a lot of money and own lots of media? I thought we were above stereotypes.
