The way I see it:
Trump has: 743
Cruz has his own: 517
Plus Kasich’s: 143
Plus Rubio’s: 172
Cruz total: 832
The GOPe are making deals with Kasich and Rubio right now, to give their delegates to Cruz in exchange for positions in the cabinet.
Cruz is behind the scenes now wooing (aka bribing) both Kasich and Rubio delegates to be loyal to him on both the first and subsequent ballots. Cruz doesn’t need 1237 of his own delegates before convention, because the day before the convention, both Kasich and Rubio can publicly say “I release all of my delegates, to vote for Cruz on the first ballot.” If Trump hasn’t wooed them before the convention, Trump is toast.
They are all #NeverTrump. They all know how to play the game, and Trump is behind the curve on how the game is played. It may be too late to catch up. We shall see.
I believe that's what's going on.
In most cases, they don't have that option on the first ballot. They are bound to vote the way the primary result was. Most of the delegates are GOPe types. They won't necessarily go for Cruz or Trump, but rather, Kasich for example.
Trump has: 743
Cruz has his own: 517
Cruz has his own: 517
If he gets all of Kasich and Rubio, then Kasichs: 143
Plus Rubios: 172
Cruz total: 832
Let’s say Trump takes a larger share of those totals.
+ 65% Kasichs: 143 x .65 = 93
+ 60% Rubios: 60% x 172 = 103
Cruz total: 517 + 93 + 103 = 713
Trump Total: (if the remainder) 743+50 +69 = 862
Another iteration:
Let’s say Cruz takes a larger share of those totals.
+ 65% Kasichs: 143 x 85% = 121
+ 60% Rubios: 85% x 172 = 146
Cruz total: 517 + 121 + 146 = 784
Trump Total: (if the remainder) 743 + 22 + 26 = 791
Looks like Cruz will need to take at least 87% of the released delegates if they split the remaining state delegates.
The GOPe are making deals with Kasich and Rubio right now, to give their delegates to Cruz in exchange for positions in the cabinet.
Everyone I know that voted for Carter in 1976 said they were voting against Ford for pardoning Nixon. This may blow up in their faces.
Thanks for your post. I hate it but it was very informative.
