In Afghanistan and elsewhere in the Islamic world, this kind of behavior is broadly tolerated. Women are so devalued, men look to other men and boys for sexual pleasure. Also, the Qur'an promises not just virgins to the blessed, but boys like "scattered pearls":

The problem here is that millions upon millions of people received a horrible education in our public school system. In the case of liberal democrats there is a huge percentage that read, write and comprehend on the level of a 5th grader. These folks won't go to a library because they just can't read.
