Ted Cruz Declares Wisconsin A Turning Point In The GOP Campaign
By Sean Sullivan and Philip Rucker April 5
MILWAUKEE Ted Cruz rolled to a landslide victory Tuesday in Wisconsins hotly contested Republican presidential primary, capitalizing on a difficult stretch for Donald Trump to cut into the front-runners overall delegate lead and deliver a psychological blow to the billionaire mogul.
Though the senator from Texas is reviled by many party leaders for his explosive and polarizing brand of politics, Cruz won over establishment Republicans as well as grass-roots conservative activists across this state who had come together in an urgent push to stop Trump. Late returns showed him leading Trump by a wide margin.
Cruz hopes his Wisconsin win transforms the trajectory of the race. Wisconsin adds a important Midwestern bellwether to the basket of mostly Southern or rural states he has won to date, giving the Texan evidence that he can appeal beyond ultra-conservative and religious voters.
Savoring his biggest night since winning the kickoff Iowa caucuses in February, Cruz declared before cheering supporters here in Milwaukee: Tonight is a turning point. It is a rallying cry. It is a call from the hardworking men and women of Wisconsin to the people of America: We have a choice a real choice.
Trump remains in a favorable position nationally, but Cruz now has fresh momentum heading into future contests and Tuesdays results increase the possibility that the nomination battle spills onto the floor of the partys July convention in Cleveland

My, my, my old gray whiskers are we feeling nasty tonight?
So this is what you say about Cruz:
Arrogant egotistical scum.
Many might feel the same way about Trump. He is one of the best egotists the world has ever known — slept with more great women than any other man and read the Bible more than anyone else.
Some people might see a contradiction, but not Trump supporters. Keep up the good work. Your man lost. You need to suck it up.
Point on. Excellent comments.
Right you are. When this is all over, we will probably be stuck with a Romney/Ryan ticket and lose BIGLY!
California isn’t winner take all, its mostly congressional district.
Its not so much that he won probably 10 more delegates than Trump its that we have to listen to Cruz crow about being the only candidate who can beat Donald Trump for another 2-3 weeks when he will thankfully be past the mathematical ability to get 1237 delegates.
IMO Cruz cannot possibly believe that he will really win a contested convention. Donald Trump is one shrewd customer and he’s really good at deal making. There is no way he is going to go into a floor fight at the convention. No the Donald if he’s a few delegates short will use those six or so weeks between June and the convention to cut a deal with somebody so he wins on the first ballot. Cruz is more likely positioning himself to be able to force himself on thee ticket as VP at the last minute.
You truly think Cruz is a constitutionalist?????
TPA/TPP
Wife endorses NAU.
Cruz is a globalist. His carefully crafted image is a lie.
We think the same of you and yours.
Not exactly. NY is winner take all at the district and state level if anyone gets over 50%
It is ONLY proportional at the district and state level if no one gets 50% and even then only folks who get more then 20% get allocated any delegates.
If both Trump and Cruz go to the convention with less than a majority of the delegates, then it will be the other delegates who will make the difference. If a strong majority of Rubio, Kasich, Carson, Bush, Fiorina, Huckabee, Paul, and unbound delegates decide they prefer Cruz over Trump, then that will put Cruz over the top and he will be the nominee, and rightly so. If a majority of those other delegates decide they prefer Trump over Cruz, then Trump will be the nominee, and rightly so. That’s how it works. No subverting involved.
Welcome to a devastating loss.

Only one problem with what you wrote.
Trump has NOT won a “ majority” of the votes of the base.
Check the numbers; up until now the votes have been split among a lot of candidates and are STILL being split among three, since Kasich has refused to drop out.
Trump has gotten the most so far, but definitely NOT a majority. MOST Republicabs have voted for a candidate who is NOT Trump!
So in a contested convention where delegates finally have the right to decide upon one of the two leading candidates, if no one can win on the first ballot, it’s will be fair game for delegates to switch votes!

Enjoy your night, Ted. Because you’ve hit your peak. See you in New York!
Let’s all get behind the ONE candidate who CANNOT beat Hillary: TED CRUZ, YOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!! /s
Trump has not won a majority of the votes yet in any state. Only in the Northern Mariana Islands. A majority of the base has said they do not want Trump to be the nominee. That majority, though, has been split among a number of non-Trump alternatives. So there is no clear, overwhelming "will" that has been expressed.
Thanks for the correction.
Talking to other Registered Republicans, at least in my area in upstate NY,
Trump may get some unpleasant surprises in NY.
It may not be the blow out he is hoping for.
Yes, and Trump will win huge!
I rather have a egotistical and foul mouth candidate who loves this country and hates the establishment THAN a candidate who hides behind the Bible and stumps around the country aligning himself with individuals who do not believe in a Sovereign Nation (with God blessings) but are full fledged Globalist.
