I just tried the link on my mobile phone, and it popped right up
won’t connect on my laptop either
I’m a computer illiterate, if I can’t reboot the computer and have it fix itself (or like reinstall drivers, I can do that), I have to call one of my kids to walk me through it.
For me I can pull up Free Republic on Google search and instead of clicking the main link I click on a sub link like “news articles” and I’m able to get in. Google Chrome
My phone’s been dead for FR since about 2PM, but it’s back on now, so the problem seems to have been resolved.
Go to start — then punch RUN — copy and paste the below in the RUN box:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Run it.
Open it with notepad. At the bottom of the file it should say: ::1 localhost
Copy and paste 209.157.64.200 www.freerepublic.com below under ‘::1 localhost’.
Should look like this when done:
~~~
::1 localhost
209.157.64.200 www.freerepublic.com
~~
Save the file and you should have a working computer again. :)
