Heres a simple question that desperately needs an answer.
Donald Trump won the Arizona primary in a landslide, 47.1 percent to Ted Cruzs 24.9 percent, giving the GOP front-runner all 58 of that winner-take-all states delegates.
Right now, the Cruz campaign is engaged in a furious on-the-ground campaign in Arizona and in other states won by Trump, including Louisiana, Georgia and Tennessee to convert Trump delegates into Cruz delegates on a second ballot, should there be a contested GOP convention this summer.
The question is: Is this moral?
Trump calls it crooked as hell. But lets back up a little.
As the Washington Examiner reported Monday, in a story headlined Cruz snaring Trumps Arizona delegates and posted in the lead position of the Drudge Report:
Sen. Ted Cruz is out-hustling Donald Trump and looks set to ensure many Arizona delegates will defect to him in a convention floor fight.
The Texas senator, who ever since Iowa has played a stealthy ground game in contrast to Trumps chaotic populism, is taking steps to snatch the Republican presidential nomination from The Donald at the convention in July.
The New York businessman easily won last months Arizona primary taking 47 percent to Cruzs 25 percent, scooping up all 58 of the states delegates. Thats nearly 5 percent of the 1,237 Trump needs for the nomination, and theyre tied to him on the first ballot.
But Cruz, exploiting deep opposition to Trump among grass-roots Republicans, has been far more active in Arizona than Trump, insiders say. Hes recruiting candidates for the available 55 delegate slots, that along with the other three delegate positions filled by party leaders, would be allowed to vote for him in a multi-ballot contested convention.

156 posts and not one explains the basis of calling Cruz actions amoral.
Just because you find something to be against your desire does not make it less than moral.
GOP keeps this up, a LOT of people who voted in the Republican primaries will be voting third party in November. You can count on it.
1.1 million in FL voted Trump. The kenyan won by 80k in 2012. Not hard to do the math on this one. The Cruznadian is willing to burn down the GOP to get the nom. Lovely.
Nicely stated top.
You don’t consider Paul Manafort and Roger Stone to be “hardened party insiders” I suppose?
Just don’t like the dude.
Something is off about him.
i used to spend a lot of time in Canada, not sure how “moral” Canuks are , but they always seemed to think they were smarter than Americans. must be a Canuk thing...
Thank you! I suspect that most Trump supporters can't differentiate between the moral, the ethical and the legal.
Cruz is as crooked as a dog’s hind leg.
Morality got tossed out the window a long time ago in this country.
Session voted for Corker.
Sessions endorsed trump AFTER the polls in Alabama showed Trump with a huge lead.
Sessions has never said a bad word about Cruz.
Sessions is a great senator, but his endorsement was about re-election.
That’s the thing....Cruz is NOT liked by most, he hasn’t won the majority of the states to date and shan’t win in any of the upcoming ones, this month either. And he absolutely can’t beat ANY Dem who is the nominee; not even crazy COMMIE BERNIE!
Anyone would have to be a fool to believe Cruz is an outsider, he knows every dirty trick there is to know. He is too organized and dirty to not be ESTABLISHMENT, 100%.
He is “lobbying” to get those delegates. Has anyone asked him if he’s going to allow lobbyists to influence his campaign?
Did you know that Trump is being investigated for promising poor old Ben Carson a position in his administration in exchange for an endorsement.
That’s against the law.
But either Trump doesn’t know the law or he doesn’t think it applies to him.
Probably both.
Is that little shenanigan okay with you honest trumpers?
Should Cruz apologize for being smarter than the opposition and beating them within the established rules?
Spot on reply about what cRuz is doing with the delegates....and those who are actually supporting him doing so.
Thanks.
I simply want to know if you really believe overturning the crystal clear will of Arizona (and other states) voters is a moral thing to do in pursuit of the presidency.
You seem to want to overlook the fact the delegates are also voted in the represent the will of their states voters at the convention.
Whatever floats your boat. Have a good time with this.
Those are lots of wild predictions, but what the polls show is that a huge number of Republicans are considering not voting for Trump if he’s the nominee. At this point, that outcome is more realistic than your more fanciful one.
In theory, I believe Trump could improve his numbers and support if he became a very solid, disciplined, gaffe-free candidate for the next 7 months. But I also don’t believe people can change who they are. And Trump appears defiant and resistant to any criticism, constructive or otherwise.
I suspect they will. Because their attachment to the GOP is fickle. It’s based on the person, not the policy or principle.
You’ve got it backwards. Cruzers are the ones attached to the person against all evidence of his lack of principle and conservatism.
Everybody else can see elected GOP strategizing in secret with rich Democrats and call time out on this sleazy uniparty. Yet Ted “anti-Establishment” Cruz is just fine with this corruption. How pathetic is that?
