Heres a simple question that desperately needs an answer.
Donald Trump won the Arizona primary in a landslide, 47.1 percent to Ted Cruzs 24.9 percent, giving the GOP front-runner all 58 of that winner-take-all states delegates.
Right now, the Cruz campaign is engaged in a furious on-the-ground campaign in Arizona and in other states won by Trump, including Louisiana, Georgia and Tennessee to convert Trump delegates into Cruz delegates on a second ballot, should there be a contested GOP convention this summer.
The question is: Is this moral?
Trump calls it crooked as hell. But lets back up a little.
As the Washington Examiner reported Monday, in a story headlined Cruz snaring Trumps Arizona delegates and posted in the lead position of the Drudge Report:
Sen. Ted Cruz is out-hustling Donald Trump and looks set to ensure many Arizona delegates will defect to him in a convention floor fight.
The Texas senator, who ever since Iowa has played a stealthy ground game in contrast to Trumps chaotic populism, is taking steps to snatch the Republican presidential nomination from The Donald at the convention in July.
The New York businessman easily won last months Arizona primary taking 47 percent to Cruzs 25 percent, scooping up all 58 of the states delegates. Thats nearly 5 percent of the 1,237 Trump needs for the nomination, and theyre tied to him on the first ballot.
But Cruz, exploiting deep opposition to Trump among grass-roots Republicans, has been far more active in Arizona than Trump, insiders say. Hes recruiting candidates for the available 55 delegate slots, that along with the other three delegate positions filled by party leaders, would be allowed to vote for him in a multi-ballot contested convention.

If they are tied come the convention, then a runoff would be justified, but if one of them is ahead, they win, first ballot.

I would have no problems with that.
The vast majority of New Yorkers don’t like Cruz. His poll numbers there stink on ice.
Not to mention better tariffs which will bring down America’s economy.
Were going to find out how it all shakes out pretty shortly.

True.
I’m sorry, but I can’t stand her voice now. It’s so shrill. And Bill running around as the First Husband. It’s more than anyone can bear.
Well said.
Cruz wouldn’t win Florida, Ohio, VA, PA, etc. It would be a certain loss for republicans.
No one is stealing your vote.
Cruz is trying to win delegates.
If you didn’t understand how this works, shame on you. We have been talking delegate counts for literally months now.
He’s trying to win delegates so he can throw the election. Cruz is never Trump.
“You always strike the lowest, most crass, note in any thread.
If you think its smart to sell your soul to win an election you have probably sold yours a long time ago”
So true.
I agree. If Cruz is liked so much, then why can't he get the votes during the primaries? Why does he need to track down delegates and bribe them to vote for him on the 2nd vote?
I’d like to say Go Ted too - go straight to............
Cruz is ‘smarter’, because he has a slew of consultants and GOP insiders running his campaign for him, and a virtually unlimited supply of money from his owners, to finance his campaign’s vaunted ground game and dirty tricks. So credit his donors and puppet masters. We’re talking 100’s of years worth of insider experience in sleazy tactics and dirty tricks at his disposal. That’s nothing to be proud of.
Cruz is a Manchurian candidate. He’s the empty suited, slick talking façade. The real people running for President are his owners.
Unfortunately, I am way too cynical for awe.. I do think based on the math that Trump will likely get to 1237— It is probably about 65 percent that he gets it and 35 he doesn’t— I do agree that if he doesn’t get 1237 that the likelihood that he gets the nomination on a 2nd or 3rd ballot is probably not better than a 1/3rd..
Why would that concern you? If you support Trump, morality would have to be about the furthest thing from your mind.
If that's the case then why is this thread pursuing the idea that securing delegates is a moral matter? moral? You've just reinforced the idea that this election process has nothing to do with morality.
What you've indirectly confirmed is that this thread is nothing more than an alinskyite tactic. Trump supporters adopting the ways of the left regardless of truth. Now that brings up a legitimate question of morality.
The real question is, will the delegates bought by Cruz stay bought ?
Way ahead of Teddy Cruz, for one
I can’t say how moral it is or isn’t.
I can say I find it lacking for credibility, though.
NO
