For your android...

Long press on the link for the WiFi connection, then modify connection, then click the advanced options, change the dhcp to static and you can change the dns entries. When I changed mine to OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220), freerepublic.com would not work, but http://www.freerepublic.com would.
