“many legal people actually only earn minimum wage”

I have read 2 million. This means, from my point of view, over 600,000 will loose their jobs as follows:

I have 3 employees I pay $10/hr.

I have to pay $15/hr. I fire one employee and the total wages are still the same.

One of the worst jobs ever has to be these poor sign-waving folks. But, it is a job - and probably minimum wage.

So this weekend I was driving in a neighboring town and saw where the job has been replaced by a machine.

Told my teenage son that this is what happens when they raise minimum wages.

Most Americans though can’t figure out this simple arithmetic when it comes to minumum wages.
