You can’t pay off that kind of debt without really hurting the country and cutting back social programs like social security. He will never get elected if he cuts back on the social programs.

Social programs are killing the country, and are a large part of why the deficit is close to exponential growth. Look at the website link in my tagline: every deficit dollar spent goes to social programs. Put another way, government receipts and expenses would balance out if not for the social programs.

Social programs are a cynical invention of politicians designed to make people dependent on government for survival, in order to guarantee that they will continue to vote for the politicians enslaving them.

Do you really think that the people currently enslaved by government social programs are going to be better off in an economic collapse that results in the government not being able to continue any social programs? Or will people be better off by growing the economy, reversing the policies that have led to jobs leaving the country, and growing the workforce?

I am utterly amazed by people saying on a conservative website that they want to keep liberal/socialist programs and denouncing the one guy whose campaign is built around fixing the problems!

It’s a matter of math.

The feds collect around $3 trillion in taxes each year. To devote $2+ trillion of that to retiring debt would require cutting federal spending by more than half ON DAY ONE, or would require almost doubling the overall federal tax burden. And Congress would have to agree.

Cut taxes and regs to stimulate the economy, and cut spending, and the debt will resolve itself (but only with multi-election discipline).

It is always great to see people not willing to deal with reality and change the subject. I am saying a much better way to go is get rid of the deficit and slowly pay off the debt. You will NOT get elected by paying down 2 trillion dollars of debt a year because you will be impacting way to many people who count on the free sh!t and will not vote for you. Plus you will also be impacting the security budget of this country. Quit buying into Trump’s con job.

Perfect comment! And as you point out, we would not be even having discussions today about “social programs” if it were not for the candidacy of Donald Trump. Cruz is sort of wishy washy ( you just know he’s placating the electorate to buy votes), and K-sick is a full-on socialist democrat on social spending, even when it comes to illegals!
