It’s just a terrible precedent.

I had argued, rocklobster, that current law equates ‘citizen at birth’ with ‘NBC’. I still believe that.

BUT...that doesn’t mean current law is WISE. It isn’t.

All the legal opinions in the world won’t overcome the fact that allowing a foreign born, dual citizen candidate to run for office is a terribly unwise precedent

"Current law" CANNOT re-define original intent. Only a Constitutional Amendment can do that.

I would submit that "current law" is flawed and needs to be reformed, to reflect the restrictions of the founders. They clearly didn't want the outside interests of foreign citizens or "anchor babies" compromising the office.

(which is exactly what we currently have)

I had read somewhere that he wasn’t a US citizen at birth as his mother had relinquished her US citizenship in favor of Canadian citizenship 4 years before Ted was born. She was a Canadian voter during that period.
