As we say in the South -- it's time for a "Come to Jesus Moment."
The 2016 Republican presidential race has been one of the most rancorous in recent history. The behavior of the candidates and their followers has been downright repulsive.
There are no clean hands among this bunch. Instead of focusing squarely on the issues at hand -- they have chosen to engage in ugly personal attacks.
I'm especially disappointed in the behavior of those devout followers of both Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.
For what its worth many good-hearted conservatives have been caught in the crossfire between the warring factions.
They have filled our Facebook pages and Twitter feeds with filthy messages. Reasoned and thoughtful conversation has been replaced with hateful rhetoric and insults.
If you praise Trump, the Cruz people attack. If you praise Cruz, the Trump people attack. If you criticize Trump, youre accused of being a left wing liberal. If you criticize Cruz, youre accused of being an establishment Republican.

I applaud you for trying. I doubt you can put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Some folks thrive on being nasty.
Is Fox News shilling for Kasich now? Or as their patron Karl Rove said, “a fresh face”, none of the remaining 3 candidates?
Every politician has annoying followers. It’s part of life. That doesn’t make Ted Cruz any less of a globalist GOPe stooge.
Also, Ted Cruz supporters in particular seem to take criticism of their candidate very personally. Hundreds of threads now on FR I have commented about Cruz and only Cruz, and gotten responses attacking me personally. It doesn’t really surprise me, since Cruz sells himself by mailing out shame letters. His campaign has always been about labeling people who don’t support him as blasphemous heathens.
Todd Starnes doesn’t realize what Donald Trump realizes. America tunes in to a rancorous reality show.
It doesn’t tune in when it is a tired, old, sedate discussion.
If you want the low infos to watch, then you’ve got to give them a show.
Looks like he’s prepping for the Ned Beatty role in the Deliverance remake, imo.
For Cruz and Trump, take any advice the media gives you and do the opposite.
Here an idea Fox News.
Go watch the very 1st debate. The Fox News Moderator clown posse started this “Political of Personal Destruction” campaign.
If Fox News is upset with the “tone” they can look in the mirror for the source.
How does anyone know whether those posting anonymously on social media are truly what they say they are? They could be dissenters just trying to stir the pot. I wouldn’t take anyone on social media 100% seriously, and that includes posters on FR.
Fox News tried to manipulate us into thinking Marco Rubio should be our candidate just like they did with Mitt Romney. They even tried to make us believe that Romney was going to beat Obama even up to the final minutes of the election.
Fox News IS the mouthpiece of the Republican party and we dont believe either The party or Fox News anymore.
Wonder how many 'warring factions' there would be if the media stopped lying their asses off so much.
If Starnes wants to know the wellspring of all this vitriol, maybe he should look in the mirror.
What does Hugh Hefner have anything to do with this?
Crybully
Someone who uses the perceived righteousness of a Poltical cause as a pretext to abuse others, and then plays the victim when confronted about that abuse.
If the media is so worried about the tone, they can go watch the moderators of the 1st debate in action to see who is the sources of the nasty negative childish campaign season.
I am with Todd.
All that is going to come out of this election is a Democrat President and possibly a Democrat Senate.
Eating your own is no way to win an election.
Fox should transfer Shep, say to doorman. How will he handle a Trump presidency? Drugs? Hypnotherapy?
Anything trivial about Trump and his whole show is just one big tantrum against Trump, wirse than Megyn Kelly.
Faux Nudes, “We decieve you believe”
Fire Mayhem Kelly, Rove, Luntz.
This is the best election ever, they used to fight duels over this stuff, this is tame.
Faux has Rove but never reported he was working for Bush too, how many times did Rove say Trump has peaked, Bush won the debate, Bush is a conservative?
Faux never reported that Lundz aka Dundz worked for Rubio doing polls while he was polling debates and always saying, “Rubio won the debate hands down”
Me too, I'd write in my vote for Ronald Reagan, but that won't help defeat Hillary, so ya know... flip a coin when you get to the voting booth, I guess.
I've been around here reading all the posts for a long time now, and all I've gotten out of it is that there's nobody running on either side I can trust, so...
Blame Democrats. They Alinskyized out politics forty years ago. Republicans are just catching-up to the new rules.
I hope Donald Trump emerges from this food fight with half the party hating him, because Trump’s half already hates Lyin’ Ted Cruz and the rest of his GOPe.
Hillary is going to win in a landslide, and her coat tails will bring in a Democratic Senate, and very likely a Democratic House.
The only thing that will save the conservative movement is the utter and complete political annihilation of the GOPe-led Republican Party.
It is time for that inept, corrupt, borderline criminal organization to go to the garbage heap of history where it should have gone long ago.
