"Do basic calculations with positive and negative numbers, page after page of them. Day after day of adding and subtracting fractions, until it sticks." This is thought process is precisely one of the biggest problems with the way children are presently taught. If anything requires that much repetition, the teacher entirely failed to relay the underlying concept effectually in the first place.

Could be. On the other hand, maybe the student doesn’t pay attention until the 10th time. My point was that one must master a concept before moving on.
