Trump: Fields Would Have Pressed Charges Even if Lewandowski Apologized ‘Because She Likes It’
Washington Free Beacon ^ | 03/30/2016 | BY: David Rutz

Donald Trump said Wednesday that reporter Michelle Fields would likely have pressed battery charges even if Corey Lewandowski had apologized for grabbing her “because I think she likes it,” implying she wanted the attention.

On NBC’s Today, hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie asked Trump to explain his stalwart defense of his campaign manager. Lauer at one point resignedly asked if this whole thing would be moot if Lewandowski had apologized in the first place.

“I actually don’t think so,” Trump said. “I think she would have pressed charges anyway because I think she likes it. That’s my opinion. Maybe I’m wrong. If he called up, if he said he’s sorry, I think she would have used that against him … Certainly, if that could have happened, he would have done that, and I wasn’t involved in that … I don’t think anything would have happened. I think we’d be in the same place.”

He added an apology would have given her “a little bit better evidence.”

“Why don’t we say we’ll agree to disagree on this, Mr. Trump,” Lauer said.

“Well I don’t think you can disagree, Matt, because the evidence is the evidence, and most people would disagree with you,” Trump said.

The strange saga began earlier this month when Fields and others asserted Lewandowski had seized her arm with enough force to leave bruises at a press scrum in Florida.

Lewandowski emphatically denied ever touching Fields, and Trump himself implied Fields made it up, but Jupiter, Florida, police filed battery charges against Lewandowski on Tuesday. The department released video showing him clearly yanking her arm. Since then, the campaign has rallied behind Lewandowski, and Trump has mocked Fields’ complaint and said the video shows the incident has been blown out of proportion.

LOOK at her track record. She is a drama queen who has some sort of mental disorder and constantly needs to be the center of attention.

The “goblin eating their brains” is being demonstrated by the TDS suffers who are so emotionally hysteric that they buy into this sort of transparent smear job in the mistaken notion it “helps” their candidate”.

Megyn Kelly did a hatchet job with Ben Shapiro last night. He called Trump a steaming pile of sludge or something like that. He was a sniveling little creep, and this is a supposed “reporter””??

I think Trump is gigantic weirdo, but yes this seems totally made up, aimed at convincing the dumbest of the dumb. Cruz outed himself as a political stiff pandering to the lowest common denominator at this point, or who ever would actually change their mind about weirdo Trump over dog squeeze like this.

If you want to president in 2016, you have to have something really, really wrong with you.

Ben Shapiro absolutely creeps me out.

This certainly doesn’t sound like an journalists:

He should have been fired long ago. I don’t see how a credible media source could have kept him. He is a clown show.

Agree. I think Trump won’t back down here.

I believe that he is completely convinced that Corey will be exonerated and that Fields will be exposed as a drama queen at best, conniver/political hack at worst.

Next week’s National Enquirer hits tomorrow. Wonder if they will add more information on the Cruz scandal or if they will drop the story.

Tomorrow should be an interesting day.

As if every day of this campaign season hasn’t been interesting!

alternatively to the goblins hypothesis, trump is simply extrapolating a few weeks or months forward to a time in which everyone is sick and tired of hearing this story and the woman behind it.

who among us has not been jostled every once in a while in a political rally?

everyone who has spent any time reading up on the story realizes that she may have been jostled but that there is practically zero chance that it was intentional, and therefore that the action is politically motivated.

so perhaps trump’s strategy is simply building a framework for that time in the near future when people (even liberals) are tired of this story and simply want it to go away.

Watched the video. The SS agent made first contact with her. She made several physical contacts with DT but the SS agent was not able to quickly get between her and DT. Cory intervened allowing the SS to get around her and keep up with DT.

She entered a prohibited area and twice put her hands on a presidential candidate under the protection of the Secret Service. Had these agents been doing their jobs, they would have seriously manhandled her, placed her in handcuffs, and escorted her from the area. She engaged in a deliberate provocation in the hope that someone would overreact so she could, once again, assume the role of victim and blame the Trump campaign. Lewandowski did not overreact, however, so her only remaining choice was to make a mountain out of a molehill in a series of changing statements that were exaggerated, embellished, and fabricated. The fact that she could enlist the support of political operatives in the local law enforcement community lends no credibility to her claims. Her next step will probably be an attempt to extort money from the Trump campaign by filing a civil action. Trump and Lewandowski are entirely correct in resisting all of these attempts. I would lose respect for them if they did otherwise. I’ve definitely lost respect for Michelle Fields after having previously appreciated her contribution as a panelist on Cashin’ In with Eric Bolling on FNC and FBN.

EXCERPTS

NOVEMBER 30, 2011

Q&A with Michelle Fields Video Journalist Michelle Fields talked about her reporting on various issues for the Daily Caller 24-hour news site. She discussed an early interview with actor Matt Damon and his mother, her unanticipated involvement while covering the New York City Occupy Wall Street demonstrations, her experiences covering Congress, and attending a book signing party for talk show host Chris Matthews in which she interviewed Washington Post veterans Ben Bradlee and Bob Woodward, and the rise in citizen journalism. She spoke of her childhood and her political views.

Michelle Fields was born in Los Angeles and received her degree in Political Science from Pepperdine University in 2011. She contributed video work for Reason TV and joined The Daily Caller in mid-2011. The Daily Caller, a 24-hour news and commentary website was founded by journalist Tucker Carlson, and Neil Patel, former chief policy adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney.

(snip)

MICHELLE FIELDS: I am a video journalist. I would say that what we’re doing is almost like citizen journalism which is basically when an individual who doesn’t have that much training in journalism has the tools and modern technology to capture a live event but doesn’t have a background in journalism.
So what we’re doing is we’re capturing raw and real moments, which is basically what people are doing with iPhones and Blackberries. As a video journalist you’re now competing with people who have iPhones and Blackberries and uploading on You Tube and those are - that’s what going viral.
So we’re recreating that. We’re asking questions that Congressmen maybe don’t have the answer to. They don’t have talking points for or when we’re going to a protest, we’re going on the ground. We’re not doing what a typical journalist does, which is they go. They have their mic. They do their stand up, maybe they interview two or three people, get a B roll and put it together.
Instead we’re on the ground with the protestors. If they march five miles, we march five miles with them. So that we can capture those moments that people are capturing with their iPhones and uploading on You Tube.
LAMB: You did for The Daily Caller, a website.
FIELDS: Yes.

(snip)

LAMB: Born in southern California, graduated from Pepperdine University about 18 months ago?
FIELDS: Yes. In May actually.
LAMB: 2010?
FIELDS: No, no. 2011.
LAMB: 2011?
FIELDS: Yes.
LAMB: How does somebody walk out of that environment right into this town, right into something like this?
FIELDS: I’m pretty hard working. I was very active when I was in Los Angeles. I did a lot of political activism. So I think I maybe caught the eye of some people in D.C. who were interested in what I was doing. I organized a lot of liberty groups on campuses in Los Angeles area and I held a conference at my university. I held events so I think maybe that’s how I just transitioned into here. People had already seen my work that I was doing ion LA.
LAMB: What was your major?
FIELDS: Political science.

(snip)

LAMB: Here is some video that also went viral about education. The man you interviewed here is a man named Matt Damon, an actor. Before we go to that, what was the point of this? Why were you there? Why were you interviewing him?
FIELDS: It was a teachers’ union rally. I had just graduated from college and Nick Gillespie from Reason TV contacted me and said that he would be interested in me hosting a few of their videos and to try it out. And this was the first video that I did for Reason TV. Him and Jim Epstein who was the camera man, they told me oh, do not worry, it is just going to be this small protest.
People probably will not even be there and we can sort of just get you in there and see if you like it, see how it works, it will not be a big deal. So, I went and it ended up going viral.
LAMB: We are going to show it in a second but before I leave that, who was the videographer that was with you?
FIELDS: Jim Epstein.
LAMB: No, I am talking about before at Occupy Wall Street, we did not …
FIELDS: Occupy Wall Street, Direna Cousins. She is a girl who just graduated from college as well and she does my videos.
LAMB: She does all your videos?
FIELDS: Her and Grace Stafford.
LAMB: And they work for The Daily Caller?
FIELDS: Yes.
LAMB: OK but going back to this reason - you were working for Reason TV?
FIELDS: Yes, just free lance. This was my first video. Nick just wanted to see how I did.

One unnamed Secret Service agent, meanwhile, has given a different version of events, saying in a statement to the London Daily Mail that Fields “crossed in between agents and our protectee after being told not to,” and touched Trump first, WND reported.
