Saying its bad is economically meaningless. We are in competition with them whether you like it or not. Either we adapt to that reality, or we suffer.
Their economy and political system depends on a mercantilist arrangement of exporting to chump countries ruled by clueless elites as in the US.
We cut them off at the nuts, by wrecking their export economy, by refusing to finance their military-industrial complex, and watch them collapse through political instability.
We bury them on the ash heap of history, like we buried the USSR. That is how we should compete.

That’s a nice story, but I don’t think it would work.
What are some examples of a strong export economy that was ruined by another country enacting tariffs against them? Can you think of any?
We didn’t beat the USSR with tariffs, we beat them by initiating an arms race that they couldn’t sustain.
