I've been pretty neutral on Trump. Don't love him, prefer Cruz, and preferred many, but not all of the other Republican candidates that have since dropped out.
Up until this, I still would have had no problem supporting Trump in the general. But beginning with the way his campaign handled this incident, and now continuing with Trump's behavior towards Ted Cruz's wife, I now doubt I will vote for Trump in the general should he be the nominee.
I doubt I'm such a unique individual that there aren't many other people making the same decision. So this could be hurting Trump a lot more than you think.
Of course, in my case, who I support in the general election has meaning only to me, since I live in California. And if I lived in a swing state, I might cut Trump a little more slack, because he's less evil than any Democrat. But if he was as smart as he claims he is, he'd stop giving people conscientious reasons not to vote for him.
