Washington Times FIRES writer who everyone says confirmed National Enquirer story

A Washington Times writer was abruptly fired after he “came clean” on Twitter about the Ted Cruz sex scandal. The writer, Drew Johnson, confirmed via his Twitter account that there was some truth to the Ted Cruz affair rumors noting that he knows at least two of the mistresses named by the National Enquirer are accurate. The columnist says that other media outlets, columnists and reporters knew about the affairs, but refused to run the story.

The National Enquirer has caused a media firestorm after publishing a cover story about GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz and a series of alleged mistresses. The publication is a known tabloid, but despite its reputation for the sensational, has broke a number of big stories related to political candidates and high profile cases in the past. For example, the National Enquirer was the first to break stories about Gary Hart, Jesse Jackson and John Edwards before they were confirmed by the mainstream media. Therefore, when the tabloid decided to run with a story about Ted Cruz and his rumored “five mistresses,” it left some questioning if the bombshell report could be true.

In response to the story in question, a Washington Times columnist responded that it is not entirely bogus as from “what he knows” at least two of the mistresses outlined in the report are “accurate.”

Trump’s National Enquirer story only says that the affairs MAY have occurred. Not one single solitary legitimate or even semi-legitimate news source has stated that they have information that the affairs DID take place. ZERO. FUMES. NOTHING.

"Confirming" the story was being shopped about or that one or two of the outed women were part of the rumors is a giant zero.

No it wasn't. The fact that Drew Johnson confirmed two of the women was discussed by most pundits last week and over the weekend as being particularly damning evidence against Cruz's denials. Even more so because the media itself has known the facts of this case for several weeks, but sat on the story. Other journalists from Breitbart were upset that they sat on the story and have said so.

The Washington Times has compounded is problems by both firing Johnson, and they being caught lying about his status as a reporter for them and on they payroll as recently as February.

Maybe Cruz has better things to do than bring even more publicity to their publication. That's the real reason rags like the NE don't fear lawsuits....other than having to prove "actual malice" when you are a celebrity or public figure. Cruz also understands the Streisand effect that will only give legs to the story when it would otherwise die the death it so deserves.

The same reasons Cruz doesn't sue are the same reasons you want him to sue. Keeping this nonsense alive keeps the focus on everything but the issues. Slinging poo is preferred to substantive debate. Innuendo becomes fact and the circular firing squad does what it does best. Meanwhile, Hillary watches with great satisfaction.

Carpenter posted that photo the same day as Cruz appeared on TV showing his tattoo.

If my wife had seen a photos of a young lady responding to something I said on TV like that, baring her shoulder at the camera, she would call me on the carpet - as she should. This is not normal behavior.

Then she Tweeted that the photos that she posted herself on InstaGram were "Photoshopped."

I don't want to be dragged into this muck. I want a patriotic, truthful, courageous leader to take our nation out of the nightmare we find ourselves in. Our main problems are Spiritual, not political. But unless we get a real President, I fear our nation is done for in just a few more months.
