Back when I did listen to rush, he took great issue with GWBush using the phrase ‘compassionate’ conservative. From what I read, Rush has become quite creative in naming brands of conservative. Rubio a ‘full throated’ conservative... Cruz ‘consistent’ conservative.. These are signals that Rush is full of deception.
Yesterday I heard Rush say “I am not that shallow” when asked if he supported Trump. (Whatever that means.) I think Rush doesn’t like Trump saying he would make deals with the dems, Rush believes in totally stomping them out. What is Cruz’s position, deal with them or stomp on them?
From what I remember it was Rush who celebrated Trump when he had first came out declaring to build a wall, etc. that actually had me streaming Trumps speeches after I heard that. Rush also pointed out Trump was everything the repubs ever wanted in a candidate; someone who was able to bring over the blue collars, the blacks, independents, etc. it seems as though after the Chicago riots he started changing his tune a bit. Rush doesn’t want to pick sides because he can see what has happened to Levin, Beck, etc. If Cruz loses how will they ever recover?
“Rush is a little too lenient on Ted”
Did Rush mention the Cruz problem yesterday? He didn’t in the first hour. I expected him to say something, but on the other hand what can he say that’s “99.99% true” when there aren’t enough concrete facts yet.
“Rush is all in for Cruz and his audience knows it”
He’s going out of his way to not reveal his preference. I think he’s a Trump man.
Maybe today he’ll bring up Cruz’s problem.
I turned off all these yappers, except if I am in the car for a very short ride to work or errand. I now listen to audiobooks.
Like any of us could, I am sure Rush listened to the actual quotes of what Cruz said instead of the spin. It wasn't really that hard. If Cruz had said anything like Trump did when the 'cartoon contest' was held in Texas, then I could understand the accusations against Cruz. But around here, this truth is a glutton for punishment...
Agreed. Rush has become part of the establishment, sure he criticizes the federal government, he talks a consistent game against Hillary Rotten Criminal but the bottom line is that he needs to stay in the good graces of the GOP elites with at least some cordial chit-chat.
The time for nice polite chit-chat is OVER.
What is your pet concern?
I stopped listening to Rush (for the first time in 20+ years) because it was all Trump all the time. I’ve previously argued in FR that Trump probably was not a conservative until I was blue in the face. The time to have brought down Trump was many months ago. However, now I’m voting for Trump. I’m going to take Trump at this word, that he’s now a conservative. Also, he seems to have all the right enemies. In the end, Rush is right not to overtly endorse a candidate during the primaries. But this time around, he stealthily DID endorse Trump, whether he admits it or not. And Trump owes a great deal to Rush, whether Trump admits it or not.
Are you insane? Since trump announced last May 1/2-3/4 of his shows have been dedicated to how trump is running rings around the press, GOP-E, how his polls don’t go down despite his less and less conservative stances, constant foot in mouth diesease and explaining why his gaffes are really good things. Rush is clearly not for Trump, but the ONE time he actually criticized trump it made national headlines and grist for the talk shows for a week solid back in December.
Right you are the true conservative and rush with nearly 30 years carrying the flag alone is just another phoney.
If conservatism really is sick enough that Rush endorsing Trump can kill it, which with all its problems I still seriously doubt, it’s time to pull the plug and call the time anyway.
I've listened to Rush long enough to wonder if he's getting ready to unload a wife or long-term girlfriend. Menopause is not something Rush has the intestinal fortitude to handle. My theory: he's struggling between his affection and loyalty to his friendships (with men, of course, never a woman) and his audience. I'm thinking his friendships are winning, and he'll lose the trust of his audience.
I don’t listen to Rush anymore, first time since about 1988?
If I want anti-Trump I just turn on anything else, including any of the smaller local Denver or Colorado Springs talk shows.
The anti-Trump is everywhere, and endless.
Savage is the only Trump supporter out there, and I can only catch a few minutes a week.
The Washington Post is going to lecture us on conservatism? Give me a break! That’s like ISIS lecturing us on Christianity.
And of course the gratious shot at Sarah Palin.
Circumscribed government and the U.S. Constitution.
Mine, as well.
