This whole episode really saddens me. Cruz could have been a great voice for us. It does not make me happy that Texas is being drug through the mud along with him. I hope he can finish his Senate career with honor.
I suspect ... insecure kid, found a winning formula where he could beat everyone with debate, so never had to mature, then too much power.
On the other hand, early in his life he declares all he wants is power. I'd give it 50/50 he's just a garden variety sociopath, found debate, and it took him places.
I have never seen humanity in him. That doesn't mean it's not there, or that he's just quirky and it doesn't show. But very good to find out now rather than even months later.
Ultimately - yeah - I'm sad. Looks like the Tea Party was a little like a dot com start up - too much too fast ... Cruz, Rubio.
And after Obama - and given that kids don't mature these days until about 10 years alter in most cases, maybe it's time to raise that minimum age to 50 or so.
