“We spend $800B per yr on our defense”
Ummm you’re off by quite a lot.
The actual DoD budget for FY 2016 $534 billion.
“Where does the money go?”
It goes towards fuel...beans...bullets...training...weapons/equipment modernization...weapons/equipment purchases...salaries...uniforms...costs associated with deployments...maintenance and upkeep of military installations...there’s ultilties that have to be paid for every single installation and building owned or leased by the DoD.
There’s more to that list...but I’m not sure how much you’d want to listen since you make the statement that:
“Nobody knows”
People that are interested...actually DO know where it all goes.
“they just want more,”
What do you think the spending limit should be on providing you and the other 315 million people in the U.S.safety and security?
“lIke every other unaccountable bureaucracy.”
Actually we are one of the few Constitutionally mandated things the Federal Government is suppsoed to do...and they are failing at it.
Look the fact of the matter is we spend a small percentage of the GDP and total U.S. budget yearly on defense.
The left wants it to be less...providing national security costs money. And you get what you pay for.
“providing national security costs money. And you get what you pay for.”
No. $500B should buy us something, shouldn’t it? What does it get us? What should it get us?
“What do you think the spending limit should be on providing you and the other 315 million people in the U.S.safety and security?”
What do you think the spending limit should be? I think that $500B should be more than enough to do what the Constitution says the military should do. How much more than that is enough? You have no idea. You just want more, don’t you?
“People that are interested...actually DO know where it all goes.”
No they don’t. Rather, they won’t even admit to what they do know.
I’m a vet. I have seen it first hand. You can’t wave the flag and pretend that your bureaucracy is protecting America and then waste what the DoD wastes.
The DoD, as a bloated organization, believes in it’s own budget before it believes in America. Just like every other bureaucracy.
