Whether you like Heidi Cruz or (because of Goldman Sachs) dislike her, there is zero question, she has become a victim in what is shaping up to be a very ugly campaign assault on her husband's character. Heidi is just another victim in a long line of famous politician wives who have had to endure the public humiliation of cheating husbands. Probably the most famous are Hillary Clinton, Jacquelin Kennedy, Ike's wife Mamie and Eleanor Roosevelt. All of these revered First Ladies (yes even Hillary was liked early on) had to endure the hardship of smiling in public all the while having their hearts ripped out by their philandering spouses.

What details?
Cruz knows the law. Case precedent says that it is legal to report rumors as long as they are specified as rumors. Pecker covered himself from libel by reporting this as rumor. OTOH, Roger Stone may get handed a costly slander suit after the primary is over. He well deserves it.
Yes, its SUE or DONT SUE time for Teddy. If these allegations are patently untrue, he should sue the NE for all theyre worth.

Obviously, everything you know about the law you learned on network TV, may LA Law back in the day.
Have you read the NE story?
Do they make categorical statements?
Do they report rumors others are discussing?
If yes to the reporting of rumors, is it actionable?
When you discover the answers to the questions above, get back to us and let us all know precisely what Ted will be suing for, and who will he be suing.
Not holding my breath.
Hulk Hogan just won $115 million from Gawker. It can be done.
My only issue with Heidi is her employer and participation with the group for a North American Union. How can you have a marriage with political viewpoints so divergent? One of them isn’t being authentic.
the blogger is a CINO. Disgusting.
“Can you say anything positive about Cruz or are you only able to throw insults at Trump supporters?”
At this point, I seriously dont think these guys even know what they are backing anymore, so this is all they have left.
The Enquirer story doesn’t make any claim that Cruz is having an affair.
Really!
It cites a single unnamed source claiming 5 women are being investigated.
It doesn’t say the inquirer independently found, or confirmed anything about Cruz.
In other words it is reporting a rumor, as a rumor.
If it doesn’t pan out they can just say their source lied to them.
They are in no legal danger at all and no one can sue.
I would think that he would want to get in front of this as fast as he can. If he lets it go, it will hang over him. If he makes it to the general, guilty or not, it will sink him. For him, it’s time to make the donuts.
I believe that Cruz said that all of Trump supporters were LIV. Nice try at deflection though.
Get in front of what?
No but the baseless accusations Cruz levels against Trump, the lies he presents as truth is his platform.
A detective gets paid for their time and expenses while investigating. Payment is not contingent upon proving or disproving.
I have 20 years experience as an investigator. I have followed Ted Cruz’s career since he ran for the Senate. I have met and spoken with Senator Cruz. Having seen my share of serial cheaters, I have to say I have never caught a hint of any such vibe from Ted Cruz.
Those attacking Cruz should take a break from acting like rabid jackals and wait for evidence. Efforts to find this evidence have been going on for months. That in itself is a good indication that there is no there, there.
Two simple questions
1) why did Cruz give a half million to Fiorina
2) why would a religious man like Cruz keep a girl who says publicly the salacious things Amanda Carpenter says close by as in her company privately in the wee hours?
And that’s just starters
#the thing has festered for months
“Trump is a serial polygamist.”
Yep. And he hasn’t mentioned the Bible except when some pharisee wants to try to prove he isn’t religious enough. But St Cruz is out there wearing the armor of God, anointed by Beck, giving us endless assaholic sermons literally from the pulpit, almost juggling snakes for us.
Trump is a man who has had a few marriages. His one to Melania seems solid and no infidelity there. Meanwhile Cruz is a weasel sneaking around with everyone out there while telling us how pius he is.
That’s the difference.
That’s great that you see it that way. A more typical view is that if a charge or accusation goes unanswered, that means the charge or accusation is true, or there is some truth to it.
Even if Cruz does not sue for defamation (which is a pretty good idea if the accusation is not true), he could at least have a press conference with his wife where Ted can definitively state that he has NEVER been unfaithful to Heidi and to challenge anyone to provide proof that he is lying.
Then the put up/shut up is squarely in the slanderer’s court.
I am thinking that there is something to this as his denial has not been this specific, but instead clouded in legalese.
For example, remember Bill when he did that finger wagging thing? He said that he didn’t have sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinski, not a single time. That statement was in fact true. Why? Because he qualified it with the not a single time phrase. Of course he did it multiple times.
Cruz has not denied being unfaithful. He has said that the accusations were utter garbage and false. Isn’t that a denial that he has been unfaithful? No. Why?
Because he doesn’t explicitly frame what accusations were false, he keeps that open-ended, hoping the listener attaches his statement to the question of unfaithfulness.
The current accusation was affairs with 5 women. What if it was 2 or 4 or 6 or 8? Then he can beat his chest and claim the accusations are garbage because the accusation was 5 women and not the actual number.
Cruz can easily get this behind him with the very clear and clean denial, in public, with Heidi, that he has NEVER been unfaithful to her and to challenge any others to provide proof otherwise. If he’s innocent, that’s the end of this story.
I like Cruz, even if he is my #2 choice. It is very important that his viewpoints are heard and pushed in DC. By him not being aggressive in knocking these accusations down, it just gives them life, and that’s not good.
In answer to your questions:
Yes.
Debatable. Tend towards yes.
Yes.
And yes. Whether the person suing would win is of course the question.
(Oh and you can start breathing again.)
Look Ted could dry hump Megan Kelly in the middle of Times Square at High Noon with Glenn Beck as the fluffer...and the whole thing broadcast live on Fox
And the Cruz supporter responce would still be denial, to it a Trump dirty trick, to parsing what a dry hump is
