I have followed your post throughout the months and I have the highest opinion of them. Thank you.
There is another post #312 that also has great take on the Cruz situation. The religious litmus test being applied to Trump is quite subjective and it is a game they will play by moving the goal posts further away if he meets them. That litmus test may be Roman Catholic or Jewish and may not apply to the Presbyterian believe system that Trump now has. Trump is a man of change and may not have been as Presbyterian a year ago. What is in his heart may have relevance to him and his God, but it is not our call. All we want is a good man who is up to the challenges America faces. What is relevant is we know Trump can meet those challenges and fix the things that matters most.
Trump was brought up Presbyterian and has ALWAYS followed the tenets as laid down by Norman Vincent Peal. I'm old enough to remember when NVP was on T.V., so am familiar with what he preached, even though I am High church Methodist.
What goal posts are "laid down" here, by posters, have been by those espousing some sort of Evangelicalism. They don't mesh with Presbyterian, Anglican, Methodist, nor Epsicopalian beliefs! Many of the things used to condemn Trump with, here, in a religious sense, are guesses and/or outright lies! Which is why I post FACTS to counter them.
Unlike Europe, at the time of this nation's birth, American has NEVER had a state religion ( which is the ONLY thing that the term SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE means/refers to ! ), nor has our president been the HEAD OF A STATE RELIGION! We vote for the person we want as out nation's leader; NOT a Pope, Priest, Pastor, Bishop, Rabbi, whatever.
