The way his daughter reacts to him says a whole lot.

Doesn’t it? I loved affection from my precious Daddy at that age. He couldn’t hoist me high often enough, I loved him playing with me and carrying me for fun (at age 4-6) when I didn’t need carrying. What a treat.

She started flicking him away with her fingers before he tried to go in close. And you can almost see in his eyes the focus on “Do it for the cameras, sweetie,” even if he couldn’t say it out loud. He did not care one whit that she did not want to right then. He kept coming in over and over again for the devoted kiss that she did not want, and was actively pushing away.

I remember seeing that. Kid was having a moment in which a parent would normally just back off. Instead, Ted was fixated on getting a photo-op with his kid.
