He is most off base with tariffs that could fall into the “protectionist” category. A tariff is, of course, a tax. The American consumer is the one who pays them indirectly, one or more steps removed. And I am against creating protected classes of citizens by shielding them from natural competition from abroad. I don’t think Trump, however, is going to plunge the world into a depression via a tariff war against China and other countries. The world economy is already tanking. It will be much worse come February of next year.
