Why is every surface ship a Destroyer these days? The Zumwalt looks Cruiser-ish to me. because Destroyer sounds so cool and lethal, and well, anything that even sounds like Cruz, especially around here is just to be detested.

It is called a destroyer because it can’t carry enough weapons to be called a cruiser. (Actually displaces more than the early battleships. Which is a good thing: Every destroyer actually hit by even one weapon since WWII has lost power, propulsion, control, radars and radio, or all four every time! )
