I have a 6 month old (late in life miracle baby) and we go round and round with my inlaws about ‘cry it out’. we oppose it. They think we are ‘spoiling’ her.

For those who support cry it out look at it this way. How would you feel if crying/screaming was the only way you could communicate your needs and then your needs were ignored?

Your spouse needs to tell his/her parents to back off. It’s your child. You decide. End of story. Me, I carried and nursed my babies until they were old enough to unbutton my blouse and name my boobs. By then they were walking so it was time to quit. Given plenty of food they didn’t seem to mind.

It isn’t just torture for the baby. It causes PERMANENT BRAIN DAMAGE.

According to the article, 40% OF BABIES ARE BEING ABUSED this way.

Look at the way people are leaping to the defense of child abuse on this thread.

I’ve always adhered to th good pediatrician, Dr Sears’, reminder of the definition of spoiling

Spoiling is what happens to milk when it is left neglected on a shelf

Forcing a person to stifle his needs just because he doesn’t know the English language does not eliminate the need. It will always present itself in a different form and for many long years.

It is sick
