Just throwing out something here. Has anyone considered the possibility that this story was concocted by the GOPe? Maybe I give them too much credit, but what an ingenious plan. Plant the story enough so that someone like the NE puts it out there. Half the R’s and conservatives automatically believe it, the other half immediately blame Trump. One step closer to a brokered convention, where they can install their guy, Paul Ryan.
Good question but I suspect you’ll never get the Cruz camp to admit that it could be anybody. They are going to blame Trump no matter what.
Kind of like how Obama blames Cruz for everything.

I followed twitter links and this story leads to Rubio and #NeverTrump. It was on The Hill twitter feed and sent to Megyn Kelly. MSNBC said it’s been floating around since January. Nobody wanted to touch it? Save it for the general election? Or maybe, Enquirer is the only one who wanted to invest the time and money to see if true. Who knows. Everyone knew but us.
Or possibly the Clinton campaign. Get the two Republican front runners to so damage each other that they have no credibility in the General.
I think you nailed it. They mucked up trump in Utah. Now it’s Ted’s turn.
Trump operative Roger Stone, who has been defending Trump on TV and bashing Cruz harder than anybody for months, is the only source quoted in the NE article. So why in the world would we not blame the Trump camp for this?

Seriously, maybe it is the GOPe behind it. And maybe their
endorsements are there to make him look like GOPe for the
rubes that would believe it. It sure has convinced a lot
of Trump supporters of it.
You know, political reality has become SO bizarre, that I wondered the same thing. And immediately dismissed it because it’s too outlandish. And yet...
I considered that - - and while the GOPe is sneaky enough and vile enough to do this - they’re not smart enough.

It is one possibility. Somebody else was blaming it on M. Rubio.
This sort of thing is SOP for Trump first he smeared Ben Carson then he went birther on Cruz, then he smeared Rubio now it is Cruz again.
He can’t debate, he need to get in the mud that is where he thrives. Rosie O’Donnell, Kelley ect he is alway personally attacking anything that challenges him.

I’ll go with Occam’s Razor on this one. Lyin Ted Cruz is a principled in his marriage as he is on the campaign trail. IOW, not at all.
