If this has been known for years, why is it being brought up now? David Dewhurst would have blown Cruz out of the water during their runoff in 2012.

Well because no one had the time or resources to devote to exposing a unknown senate candidate in Texas.
The DC media knew this info, and were sitting on it, waiting for Cruz to be the nominee, so they could then spring it sometime in October.
