I agree - it has to be Trump at this point. I thought earlier in the week it was over, but this thing with Cruz's wife.... It just isn't smart.
Trump is a strong enough personality at the top of the ticket that I really don't care who the veep is as long as it helps him win the general election. As much as FR makes it look like his major problem are some hardline-conservatives, his bigger problem is going to be suburban voters, particularly women.
But even if Trump picks someone other than Cruz as his veep, it still isn't helpful to keep up with the schoolyard stuff. Trump's smartest move right now would be to start saying nice things about Cruz and Kasich. It would being to disarm the most powerful argument they have against him, and might start to change the "trump is a mean bully" narrative before the Convention.
If it is trump , I hope Cruz gets over 1000 delegates.
