'Seriously?': Megyn Kelly hits out at Donald Trump after he retweets unflattering photo of Ted...

Megyn Kelly hit out at Donald Trump Thursday morning after he retweeted an unflattering picture of Ted Cruz's wife Heidi.

Kelly, who has been the victim of many a Trump attack herself, posted Trump's retweet on her own Twitter account and wrote; 'Seriously?'

The photo reweeted by Trump showed Heidi next to a very flattering image of Trump's model wife Melania and read; 'No need to "spill the beans." The images are worth a thousand words.'

He posted the photo just one day after threatening to 'spill the beans' on Heidi after a super PAC backing Cruz released an advert showing his wife Melania naked from a photo spread she did back in 2000 for the men's magazine GQ.

Excuse me, but today’s Trump Tweet came AFTER the GQ thing and Heidi’s attack on Trump on Fox yesterday, so this has nothing to do with Heidi “laying back, and taking it”.

I have no problem with Trump responding to Heidi on what she said about Trump and on the issues.

But his retweet was fourth grade nonsense.

You brought up a specific point and I directly responded to it. No response then?

And I responded in that manner about Trump because his lies generally seem to go unnoticed here.

Wow. Maybe you can get our possible next president to retweet that.

Here’s an earlier Liz Mair controversy, from when Scott Walker hired her a year ago. He quickly cut her loose with Liz Mair’s pal Eric Erickson galloping to her defense:

Dear @ScottWalker, Liz Mair Is a Friend of Mine | RedState
By:

Liz Mair works for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. She has been hired to do communications outreach. She is very good at her job. She is also a friend of mine. I have known Liz for a number of years. In 2012, Liz worked for Governor Rick Perry.

I am very saddened to see an organized effort by conservatives to have Governor Walker fire Liz Mair.

Liz is most definitely more liberal than either Scott Walker or me. She and I disagree on a number of issues, particularly social issues. But I also know she is very competent at her job and works for the candidate without pushing her own agenda. She has proven this time and time again.

Leftwing activists recently ganged up on Elizabeth Lauten. She was a staffer no one knew who worked for a Congressman no one knew. The left drove her from her job and ruined her career because on her personal Facebook page she made comments critical of the President’s daughters.

It is really appalling to see self-described Christians showing as little grace towards Liz Mair as the left showed to Elizabeth Lauten.

Were Liz Mair in a position within the Walker campaign to shape public policy on the social issues on which we disagree, I’d openly suggest the Walker Campaign look elsewhere or find balance. But Liz is not doing that. She’s doing social media outreach and helping the Walker campaign push their message out.

I really am appalled that so many Christian conservatives are showing such a lack of grace and overwrought outrage over a communications consultant.

I think an early test for Scott Walker is going to be if he is willing to stand up to the sound and fury of people outraged by a staffer’s tweet in the way he stood up to union activists. He should stand up here and keep Liz Mair. This tempest in a tea pot will die down. And if it doesn’t, it is just freaking Iowa.

The Iowa Caucus picked Bush over Reagan in 1980, Dole over Bush in 1988, Huckabee over McCain in 2008, and Santorum over Romney in 2012. It’s straw poll has only picked the right candidate once since 1979.

Scott Walker, it is just not worth tossing a well qualified person because she tweeted a personal opinion before being hired. Out the people who screw up on the campaigns, not the people not on campaigns. But as it stands, a whole lot of people who’ve screwed up the last several GOP campaigns are getting promotions and commissions while we’re lining up the circular firing squad over someone who will have no impact on shaping policy, but is quite effective at communicating it.

UPDATE: I see from the Associated Press that Liz Mair has resigned from Governor Walker’s campaign. Given Liz’s work history, I will put it to you this way — Team Walker has botched this. There’s just no way Liz Mair resigned with it being her idea. I haven’t talked to her yet, but there’s just no way. So instead of Walker owning this, he’s passed the ball and made a staffer off herself. That’s unfortunate and plays into the “not ready for prime time” theme already developing around Team Walker. At least it is early.

But the voices who decided to stir this pot need to DIAF as far as I’m concerned.

Ted Cruz doesn’t own that PAC, no matter how many times you spout that nonsensical noise.

And in doing so, you changed the subject which is Trump’s response to Heidi’s attack.

No, it's obviously the other way around.

If it’s “obvious,” there must be evidence. Here’s your chance to clear it up for the world. Respond with evidence and links, please.. and not some unemployed “captain underpants” basement blogger, either.

It’s this kind of behavior by Trump that’s hurting him in the polls.

Cruz is now leading in Wisconsin and gaining nationwide.

EMERSON POLL: WISCONSIN PRIMARY IN PLAY FOR BOTH PARTIES;
CRUZ LEADS TRUMP BY A POINT; CLINTON UP 6 OVER SANDERS;
CRUZ FARES BETTER THAN TRUMP IN GENERAL AGAINST CLINTON

Cruz himself? No, he’s not that stupid.

Anything with an email trail? Again, no, he’s not that stupid.

But I absolutely refuse to believe that something so outrageous would go out without at least the tacit approval of someone in the Cruz campaign. It doesn’t take anything more than a “chance” meeting at a local fast food joint or a gas pump, and “hey, we’re going to use an old nude photo of the other guy’s wife” with “that’s interesting” as a response. Negative would be on the order of “that’d make my friend look pretty bad.”

Can any of it be proven? Not a chance - again, no one is that stupid, especially not after seeing what Hillary is going through.

But it is incredibly naive to believe that there is literally no contact between people working very hard and spending a LOT of money for the same incredibly valuable goal - VERY discreetly, by lower level (but trusted) people. You can choose to believe that, I simply don’t. This IS politics, and people are playing for KEEPS.
