Ted Cruz attacked Donald Trumps character for threatening his wife on Tuesday and blamed his opponent's attack on a very bad night in Utah.
If Donald wants to get in a character fight he's better off sticking with me, because Heidi is way out of his league, Cruz said on CNNs New Day, responding to a late-night tweet from Trump warning, "Be careful, Lyin' Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!
The attack reveals a lot about Trump's character, Cruz said. "That should be beneath Donald," he said. "The reason he's doing that is because he had a very bad night last night. He got clobbered in Utah."
Trumps tweet which began with Lyin' Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad" is an apparent reference to an online ad by anti-Trump super PAC Make America Awesome, which used a photo of Trumps wife Melania posing nude in British GQ in 2000 in an attempt to sway conservative Mormon voters.
Cruz responded via Twitter shortly after: "Pic of your wife not from us. Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you're more of a coward than I thought. #classless.
On CNN, host Chris Cuomo asked the Texas senator if engaging with Trump was a good idea.
"The tweet he was unhappy about was not even a super PAC supporting me. It is an independent group. I dont know them, Cruz said. "When Donald gets scared, when he gets angry, when he gets threatened ... So last night Donald threatened my wife, he went directly after my wife."
Cruz also ratcheted up his pressure on John Kasich, who fared poorly in Tuesday's contests, to get out of the race, repeatedly calling the Ohio governor a spoiler.

“but cruz is not responsible for cruz own pac running a totally cheap shot attack on trumps wife.
Once again for the slow blinkers. the PAC is not affiliated with Cruz in any way. It’s not “his own PAC”.
“...the ad was from a new Super PAC, Make America Awesome, run by Liz Mair, a Republican social media strategist, whose other news item this cycle was resigning from Scott Walkers campaign after an ill-advised tweet. This was not from Ted Cruzs campaign, and this is not a Super PAC that has been affiliated with Ted Cruz. Its stated purpose is to fight Donald Trump.”

“cruz is a piece of shit.”
And you’re an obtuse jackass.
Did Cruz condemn the SUPERPAC that has nothing to do with him? But he sure did condemn Trump for the BLM protesters in Chicago that had nothing to do with Trump.
I grow more to despise the little wormy Cruz everyday. Like Bill Krystal, I’ll vote for Hillary before I vote for Cruz. And there’s not a damn thing you cruzbots can do about it. HA!
Yes. His campaign...not independent PACs that run ads about those they oppose.
Not sure why you people can't make that distinction.
I think you’ve realized..as I have...that trying to use things like facts and logic with the Branch Trumpidians works about as well as it used to with the Cult of Ron Paul.
At the end of the day both groups are sheep.
Don't like the guilt by association, eh? Well it is NO DIFFERENT than Trump being faulted for the paid protestors who routinely disrupt his rallies.
Using the same standard that has been used against Trump regarding violence, it it likely that this demeaning ad showing Trump's wife was designed and created by Ted Cruz himself. He deserves everything he gets from here on out.
What goes around comes around!!
Typical goal post mover.
Facts get uncomfortably close to you...time to move a few feet down the line.
smh.
Unfortunately, for some, emotions rule the day.
Sheep, really? Which base gets the face of God, fulfillment of Mormon prophecy koolaid?
“Sheep, really?”
Baaaaaaahhh...yeeeessssss
And you won’t hear him apologize. Anything that helps Lyin Ted out is appreciated by him.
You’re smarter than that. You know it is not tortured logic.
Where’s the Scott I’ve known for a very long time?
You can make that assumption all day long, but to use that to pin the responsibility for that ad onto Cruz simply isn't fact-based.
Anyway... my break is over. Back to work.. millions on welfare depend on me.
I’ve never seen a group of adults be so cultish in their support of a candidate like the cruzbots. Wait a minute, yes I did. It was Obama’s supporters. It will be the cruzbots who will give us Hillary.
I checked “open secrets” and the PAC that tweeted this picture of Trump’s wife has spent a total of $18,800 during this election cycle. They have declared 7 total donors, yes SEVEN. Their sole target seems to be anti-trump.
So, given that they are nobodies, I do believe it entirely possible that Cruz had no idea what they are up to.
Feel free to research “Make America Awesome” for yourself.
It's very much tortured logic. People are jumping to wild conclusion by pinning that ad to Cruz. It just isn't there. But I'm finished with this subject now.. it's pointless to banter on any further.
Good answer. Face of God, fulfillment of prophecy, only in the race to help Romney/Bush. But ok yeah Cruz folks are independent thinkers and Trump’s voters across all demographics are celebrity worshipping sheep. Got it.
Even Cruz shill Rush says Cruz can never win just pandering to his narrow base but it’s all Cruz has got.
>> I have fun riling up the Branch Trumpidians <<
Easy to understand. A little fun is probably harmless. And the Trump Brigades really do remind me a bit of the Branch folks, not to mention the Heaven’s Gate cult or the Kool-Aid swilling denizens of Jonestown.
But seriously, it may be a mistake to taunt these good souls beyond some point, because more than a few of them would seem to have deep-seated mental and/or emotional problems. No telling what might push some of them over the edge. Political differences aside, maybe we still should be our brothers’ keepers.
Have a good day at work buddy!
These nasty folks smearing Trump’s wife are indesputedly supporting Ted Cruz. He must disavow them or it creates a “culture of the campaign”. That he did not shows his campaign approves of the smear.
BTW, going to be rough for Lyin Ted when he runs for Senate 2018. 750k Texans voted for Trump. Be careful would be my advice here.
