Cruz: Trump's attack on my wife shows his character
Politico ^ | March 23, 2016 | Eliza Collins

Posted on 03/23/2016 5:57:36 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Ted Cruz attacked Donald Trump’s character for threatening his wife on Tuesday and blamed his opponent's attack on “a very bad night” in Utah.

“If Donald wants to get in a character fight he's better off sticking with me, because Heidi is way out of his league,” Cruz said on CNN’s “New Day,” responding to a late-night tweet from Trump warning, "Be careful, Lyin' Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!”

The attack reveals a lot about Trump's character, Cruz said. "That should be beneath Donald," he said. "The reason he's doing that is because he had a very bad night last night. He got clobbered in Utah."

Trump’s tweet — which began with “Lyin' Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad" — is an apparent reference to an online ad by anti-Trump super PAC Make America Awesome, which used a photo of Trump’s wife Melania posing nude in British GQ in 2000 in an attempt to sway conservative Mormon voters.

Cruz responded via Twitter shortly after: "Pic of your wife not from us. Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you're more of a coward than I thought. #classless.”

On CNN, host Chris Cuomo asked the Texas senator if engaging with Trump was a good idea.

"The tweet he was unhappy about was not even a super PAC supporting me. It is an independent group. I don’t know them,” Cruz said. "When Donald gets scared, when he gets angry, when he gets threatened ... So last night Donald threatened my wife, he went directly after my wife."

Cruz also ratcheted up his pressure on John Kasich, who fared poorly in Tuesday's contests, to get out of the race, repeatedly calling the Ohio governor a “spoiler.”

This is also a picture out in the public domain. A picture she took for a photo shoot for a magazine. If you pose nude publicly then you should expect to see that picture.. gasp in public. It is just phony outrage on Trump’s part in an attempt to vilify Cruz. I bet if you were to ask Trump he’s proud of the picture.

“By Ted not saying a word against the ad”

Update your propaganda. Trump has very forcefully said the ad didn’t come from his campaign.

DId Cruz really lift Michael Douglas’ speech from the movie, the American President?

Point to one sentence, one link where Cruz takes issue with that ad.

What about Trump standing with McConnell, Reid, Pelosi, Clinton and Schumer?

And you have credible proof of this right?

Yeah that’s what I thought.

Cruz didn’t attack anyone’s wife. His campaign had nothing to do with that. Not that it matters to most Trumpbots.

Then why didn't Cruz condemn it?

He disavowed it directly to Trump, who said the ad came from Cruz. Look at Cruz’ response message 3/4 the way down.

Anything else??

Cruz will probably apologize for this Super PAC ad. Now that the vote is over. Just like he apologized to Ben Carson, after the Iowa Caucus was over.

You’re an idiot. Cruz forcefully saying it isn’t from his campaign isn’t the issue.

The issue is,,if Cruz doesn’t want candidates wives to be fodder for campaign ads, he should disapprove the use of that ad which misrepresents Melania.

But he has not and he did not. He will not disagree or disapprove of that tactic but will demand his wife not be a target. You can’t point to a statement by Cruz that disavows that ad, no matter who put it out. So wives are fair game.

Just like Donald had no control over David a Duke
But was firced over and over and over to disavow

If someone does something bad to help your campaign, you disavow them
Held to the same standards
Ignorance or noninvolvement was not allowed as an excuse for Trump
It is hypocritical to claim it as an excuse for Ted to not do the manly thing
Disavow

I already did. Two separate links proving Cruz had nothing to do with the ad.

Try and keep up ok?

Just great, Cruz has family issues that will be a major distraction to the job.

Disavowing it has nothing to do with what campaign it came from. Disavowing it is to mean showing disapproval of that tactic being used on any candidate’s wife. Cruz did not do that and has not done that.

“So Cruz and his team tried to bait Trump,”

Wrong. The ad was run by an Anti-Trump PAC. For all I know they are a Soros funded PAC. To say it was “Cruz and his team,” is a flat out lie.

“then Trump rightly defended his wife,”

I agree with Trump defending his wife. It is as all MEN should behave.

“and Cruz comes out with this!”

What? Clarifying that the PAC has nothing to do with him or his campaign?

“Cruz is a nasty piece of work!”

Only a complete denier of truth would use this to reach such a conclusion.

No but he would let others do it on his behalf. I am ashamed of myself being fooled by Cruz. He is a creation of Karl Rove.
