You are spot on! One thing about Trump, he doesn't care about being politically correct with these other countries. He will absolutely make sure America we are making better deals!
I have been involved with this issue since the 1970s as both a naval officer assigned to a NATO command and as a foreign service officer serving in Germany and Greece. We have been begging the NATO members for more burden sharing. They just ignore us and
reduce their defense spending to pay for their generous welfare states. It is time to lay down some markers.
Preserving a hollowed out, weak defense alliance is not in our interests. When the rubber hits the road, they expect the US to pick up the tab. We can no longer afford to do that. In fact, we have not been able to afford it for decades. We are the world's biggest debtor nation.
