Every great cause starts as a movement, becomes a business, and ends as a racket.
The conservatives who worked tirelessly to elect Ronald Reagan did it without getting famous or rich from their efforts. In large part it cost them both time and money.
Rush came along when Reagan left office. He was part of a new Conservative Media Complex that figured out how to make money out of being Public Conservatives on cable TV and radio. They weren’t laboring in the shadows spending their time and money to elect good people and further important causes. Their goal was to become rich and famous.
We are now years past the era of Conservatism as a business model. We are now into “Conservatism” as a racket, as best exemplified by the Sea Island Republicans, the GOPe, and their myriad of defenders and apologists in the fake “conservative” press like Fox News and all of the once conservative outlets now controlled by Salem Media.
Watch some of these cons repeat that term in every post.
Perfect description. "Conservatism" has become an insider buzz word racket.
"Conservative", a D.C. one word political talking point.
