A new report from Politico shines light on how Marco Rubio refused to join a proposed “unity ticket” with Ted Cruz, both before and after the Florida senator ended his White House bid.

According to Politico’s sources, Utah Sen. Mike Lee has attempted on multiple occasions to broker a shotgun wedding between the former campaign rivals, yet Rubio has declined to partake in the efforts “to halt Donald Trump’s march to the Republican nomination.

The "unity ticke" was going to have Cruz on top, and Rubio as VP. Cruz totally sold out to the GOPe and he isn't very smart either to believe that they would actually support him to be president.

If he had succeeded in getting rid of Trump, they would get rid of him.

Gee, Rubio doesn't trust Cruz and Romney and the others plotting to get a brokered convention.

I can't for the life of me think of a reason why.

Wow. I am actually impressed that Rubio declined to join a consistent liar. Actually Rubio saw Cruz as a big liar before most of America did. Now Rubio go do something good with your life.

I don’t care about Rubio or Cruz anymore.

They are useless.

I do have a trickle of respect for Rubio for doing the honorable thing and dropping out once it was mathematically impossible for him to win.

Wish the other two clowns would do the same.

Amnesty Boy still thinks he will be the nominee out of a contested convention.
He did not see any need to take the #2 spot, he knows the RNC/GOP still has to deliver an amnesty candidate for the Cheap Labor Express.

Marco I am so happy you see that Cruz can't win a National Election against Clinton or Biden

You have good cards don't throw them away at Cruz who hs gone as far as he can go without a small base.

No, Rubio knows he will not be the nominee. He's got good enough political instincts to realize that if it isn't Trump or Cruz, the party will be torn apart and the nominee won't win anyway.

And as an aside, are you really so proud of your "Cheap Labor Express" calling card that you have to incorporate it into every single post?

I concur, if Rubio joined the ticket with Cruz, it would shoot his chances during the convention as the establishment sees them as the GOPe savior candidate. Rubio still has it in his head he will be president but then there’s the baby bush whiner who thinks his thrown was robbed and would like nothing more than to put trump’s head on a pike. In politics its all about timing as Christoe knows and when you blow your shot, you’re done. Rubio is done, he went all in and came up with a 7 and a joker and he was the suicide king.

Like it or not, the Rubes might be a knock out blow as Trump’s VP

Too bad he didn’t work on this angle before committing serious foot in mouth disease against Trump, but at least he walked it back and apologized

If Trump thinks he can school the anchor baby to be hardworking and effective, and there aren’t any bad issues hiding in Rubios closet, who knows? Trumps ticket could use a little Ricky Ricardo charm ... OK, so it could use a lot of Ricky Ricardo charm. As long as Ricky Ricardo had a clean past and no mistresses on his payroll- which was never vetted

The main motivator of the RNC/GOP since the last amnesty has been to keep the borders open and the laws unenforced.
That’s why we have had only amnesty candidates since the last amnesty.
They are importing the workers for the jobs that cannot be exported.
Entire industries have become reliant on a steady flow of illegal aliens.
Our political leaders have betrayed the citizens at every turn when we have tried to get anything done about it.

So, yes, it really is all about The Cheap Labor Express.

Cruz can't even get previous losers (Rubio) to join him, by offering offices.

He has attracted: Romney
Caitlyn Jenner
Meagan McCain
Glen Beck

and so many other wonderful supporters.

Rubio was poorly vetted, if at all, and he has a very thin resume. Trump can do MUCH better, especially since the voters have already decided Rubio brings little to the party, and since Trump really would benefit most from someone with political insider experience who could help get legislation passed. Little Marco wouldn’t know about that since he seldom showed up to vote.

Worst VP candidate imaginable, short of Jeb!

Cruz said there were not any Rubio unity talks between their campaigns:
