Well, there were the sections where he simply copied Trump, almost word for word.
But otherwise, the Cruz speech was vacuous, punctuated by that goofy grin.
It reminds you that the only reason he is where he is is that he followed closely behind Trump, drafting him as it were, when he plowed through Bush, Carson, Krispie, Carly, Rubio et. al. Cruz could have never made it through on his own. Not a strong enough politician.

I saw all the candidates speeches. Ted Cruz’s speech was by far the strongest, most detailed and most presidential.

I also noticed, for the few seconds that I listened, that Cruz referred to himself as a Texas Cuban, or something like that. He is like Obama, completely ignoring his white mother’s genetic contribution, as opposed to his Canadian Cuban father. Shouldn’t he be thinking of his American half on occasion, since he is running for president?

Ted could’ve done without the cheap, self-serving campaign insults against Trump (which Trump was claasy enough to avoid in his own speech), especially in a solemn event such as this, but beyond that major quibble, it was a fine speech by the junior senator from Texas.

I caught both Trump and Cruz. Obviously someone wrote Trump’s speech for him because it was NOTHING like his rally speeches or interviews and directly contradicted things he had just said in an interview. He can’t say anything without naming dropping.
Considering the audience, and the moment, it was a petty and mindless sucker punch. Cruz diminishes daily.

The man is extremely intelligent, and while I don’t doubt that he consulted with others on his speech, I doubt that it was just written for him and he just read it. That isn’t how he does things.
Cruz is far too obsessed with Trump. He cannot get Trump out of his mind. It is pathetic to watch. Every time he speaks, I am thinking, “When is he going to mention Trump?”
