The Jesus nut is the name given to the nut that kept the hub and trunnions of main rotor blades attached to the rotor mast of the UH-1 Huey helicopter. This nut was torqued by a torque multiplier wrench to approximately 2,000 lb-ft.
Should the Jesus nut fail or unscrews and becomes lost in flight, the main rotor blades come off, and the helicopter flips 180 degrees and goes straight into the ground from altitude.
