My advice is: let it go and tell the NFL to pi@$% off. All it does is irritate the locals and no real money is netted
On a positive note, we’ll probably never host it again; it was held in NJ as part of a deal to build a new stadium (Dallas had one for the same reason), but snow issues caused difficulties for attendees and that will never be left to chance again. In addition, it isn’t a domed stadium - so the game itself could have been postponed if the weather didn’t cooperate.
A local bar manager told me the NFL came down on any businesses advertising “Super Bowl” parties because of trademark issues; one changed the name to “Supah Bowl”, while others were forced to use generic names for their events. Honestly, you wouldn’t have even known the game was being played there; I live less than ten miles southwest of the stadium, and it probably only had an impact if you lived within a two or three mile radius.
People should have learned from the Atlanta Olympics lawsuits, filed by vendors after the events. The city sold licenses to people all over the city, then basically cordoned the athletes within a “safe zone”; the vendors sold little to nothing (after printing up shirts and such), and sued to at least recover the licenses sold to them under blatantly false pretenses. I don’t know how it played out in court; I just remember angry black vendors ranting on TV at the time. Their stands were set up & nobody came...
