Regarding the new leftists - a great line from the movie “Romancing the Stone”. Early in the movie, Kathleen is writing a cowboy romance novel which is visualized on the screen.

There will always be communists/Marxists/socialists and Marxist progressives/liberals. It is a form of mental illness found deep in the human psyche. Sane people resist its siren call of totalitarianism, but many don’t and become the lumpenproletariat of the Marxist movement which is led by overeducated white kids from well-to-do middle and upper class families (no black street trash in DSA or Progressive Democrats of America, no siree).
