History shows favorability matters in the presidential general election.
The problem is both Trump and Hillary are disliked by the bothers.
What could end up happening is most voters just stay home and then it becomes a game of who has the more enthusiastic base of supporters and a better GOTV drive

The problem is both Trump and Hillary are disliked by the voters.That may be historically unprecedented. (But note that Trump's favorable/unfavorable gap is over twice Clinton's.)
