Ted should drop out, it’s ridiculous.
Cruz has a very slim chance of winning the majority of delegates. He has a decent chance of preventing Trump from getting the majority and then flipping enough to win on a second ballot.
I have been pointing out for months now that if Trump wins, he MUST have Cruz supporters to win the general. Trump and his supporters have spent those months trash talking Cruz rather than painting a positive vision of why a Trump presidency would be superior to a Cruz presidency. Resultantly, you and your preferred candidate are in a quandary.
Trump would have wrapped this up by now if he had taken the high road with Cruz. Instead he called him the worst liar he ever met, he mocked his lack of popularity among GOPe, and described him as “nasty”. In so doing, he insulted the many supporters of Cruz, such as myself. Trump’s followers did likewise. And now you are whining about how Cruz should drop out and support Trump. Why should he?
I think Cruz should leverage his massive support to get the VP spot, attorney general, or a supreme court nomination. And it should actually be Trump reaching out to Cruz rather than Cruz reaching out to Trump.
But Cruz will probably campaign hard, all the way the convention. He will probably end up with a lot more delegates than many on this forum expect. Many have incorrectly assumed from the start that Trump will win California, but Cruz may very well win there. Just because California leans left does not mean the Republican primary voters are left of center. A lot of them are die hard conservatives who support Cruz.
So, if you really want to help Trump, you and the rest of the Trump devotees here better warm up to the reality that you need Cruz and his supporters. The trash talking needs to end, unless you really want Clinton as president. In that case, keep doing what you are doing. It just might work.
