Wow, great terminology, I'd never have dreamed that one up.

Now the residents just kill each other without interference, and anyone who can flees the area.

What you’re seeing now in the news (that urban crime is spiking because police won’t do their jobs) is exactly what happened here in NJ years ago when police were told to stop profiling (which was far more complex than just “racial”; it involved cars with southern states’ plates, no visible luggage, etc. used to run guns and drugs up Interstate 95 to the NYC metro area).

“Escape From New York” was prophetic; after a brief period of sanity, it is descending back into the chaos of the 1970s (”Fort Apache”).
