House Speaker Paul Ryan decided not to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, but he declined to rule out accepting it if a deadlocked party convention turns to him this summer.
"You know, I haven't given any thought to this stuff," Ryan said Tuesday night in an exclusive interview at the Capitol. "People say, 'What about the contested convention?' I say, well, there are a lot of people running for president. We'll see. Who knows."
Ryan, who ran in 2012 as Mitt Romney's vice presidential nominee, has taken no public actions to encourage the idea that he could become a candidate. To the contrary, a political committee set up to draft him into the 2016 race recently shut down at the urging of the speaker's aides.
"I actually think you should run for president if you're going to be president, if you want to be president," Ryan said in the interview. "I'm not running for president. I made that decision, consciously, not to."
Yet Donald Trump, even as he has established himself as the clear front-runner in the Republican race, still faces a challenge in rounding up the 1,237 delegates he needs to be nominated on the first ballot at the Republican convention in Cleveland.

Yes. Ryan did little but GULP GLASS AFTER GLASS of water
while Plugs Biden sat there laughing with those white
chompers glinting under the lights. (I’ll always suspect
that someone set Ryan up with some sort of “spiked” pitcher
of water.) Debate isn’t Ryan’s strong suit.
I really had hoped that with his cut and run from the house, that Boner was finished screwing us, but his replacement DC Uni-Party BUTT-BOY, Ryan is his latest screw.
The GOPe has got to be eradicated from our landscape!
Not in a million years Paulie. Don’t even dare to dream.
It would be hilarious if Ryan did play a role in the convention and then was not re-elected in his own district.
A very real possiblity
Your right, also something came into my mind. I believe there was thread about Glenn Beck asking Heidi Cruz about her husband being VP. She said “NO WAY!”. If this is true, then this verifies 100% that Ted Cruz was a sham from the very beginning.
If Cruz supporters believe Ted is not part of the GOPe than Ted should be smart enough to work with Donald instead of siding with his opponents.
We shall see!
“You know, I haven’t given any thought to this stuff,”
I did not say that Cruz should be “given the nomination.” What I suggested was that where a candidate (most likely Trump at this point) has won that nomination fair and square by attracting sufficient primary and caucus support, any attempt by the despicable and ACTUAL GOP-E to steal that nomination should be resisted and punished by the supporters of Cruz as well as those of Trump. I am a conservative. Cruz is a conservative. Trump has NEVER been a conservative but he slept at Holiday Inn Express last night. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. One of the most obnoxious aspects of Trump’s supporters is a general attitude that anything but abject adoration of their very flawed candidate is somehow unacceptable.
