Sen Cruz has always supported Trumps rights to hold his rallys and has even said that the protesters do not have the right to disrupt Trumps rallies.
***
And then right after that, he went right back on the attack against Trump, blaming him for causing people to be injured, attacked, and terrorized.
If he’d just stopped after two sentences, or if he’d just waited until a later time to scold Trump about his tone, then it would be fine.
As it was, his response gave aid and comfort to the leftist thugs who attacked and terrorized Trump’s supporters, and just trying to point out the tepid fig leaf that he put over himself while trying to hide his real agenda only makes it worse.
Because now he not only was willing to throw the First Amendment under the bus, but he was talking out of both sides of his mouth while doing so.
And all the internet rage in the world doesn’t change the fact that he lost an enormous amount of support because of those comments and got completely crushed in last night’s primaries.
Now, if you want to keep arguing because you’re desperate to maintain your self-righteousness for supporting Cruz, go ahead. But I will not respond.
Sorry but that is a duplicitous position. On one hand you want the protesters to be called out when they are infringing on Trump’s speeches. But you then turn around and dont want Trump called out when he supports a criminal who assaulted and battered another person.
Which is the worse charge? Trespass or Assault/Battery? Sen Cruz RIGHTFULLY called out Trump for his failure to reject the man’s actions. Speaking the truth when someone is wrong is not abandoning the first amendment.
Now to Trump’s credit, he realized his mistake and has since walked back his original statements. Does that mean Trump has also abandoned the first amendment?
