Ted Cruz urged to apologize for attacks against Mitch McConnell [price for GOPe support]

Senior Senate Republicans are calling on Sen. Ted Cruz to rebuild his strained relationships with his colleagues and apologize to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell before the party establishment considers consolidating behind his presidential bid.

Cruz has increasingly called for Republicans to unify behind his candidacy in order to take down front-runner Donald Trump. But in interviews Tuesday with CNN, it's clear Cruz's fellow GOP senators are not willing to do that, at least not yet.

Republican senators said that Cruz must return to Capitol Hill and make the case directly to his colleagues to help ease long-festering tensions. And a large number of Republicans said the fence-mending starts with this: Apologizing to McConnell for calling him a liar last year on the floor of the Senate.

That message was personally delivered by fellow Texan and McConnell's chief deputy, Sen. John Cornyn, who spoke with Cruz by phone after the candidate won their home state's primary earlier this month.

He could do anything asked, but it’s not going to matter if his voter performances don’t improve remarkably very quickly.

This is just bullsh#t! If they don't back Cruz, and that means Kasich drops out NOW- Trump walks away with it.

No apologies, no compromise-The effing Rino's did this to themselves. The American people are DONE with them. They are NOT going to accept convention shenanigans, trying to force a candidate the people don't want.

But it looks to me like they are not going to do what they need to do to even give Cruz a long shot chance to win. So basically they've endorsed Donald Trump as the nominee. I'm not really surprised.

They (RINO's) have never cared about anything other than keeping their own power and keeping their gravy train rolling- The peasants and their silly Constitution, and candidate touting it, are not going to be allowed to have power.

Neither will they allow a billionaire business man in , because they can't control him.

Kiss the ring Cruz, or else all the oligarchs will have to back Hillary. I remember when McConnell took over the Senate and I happened to catch one of those insufferable NPR think tank meetings by Washington insiders. They were all chortling to themselves how McConnell would isolate and destroy Cruz. Now out of desperation the uniparty must bring Cruz over to their side, pretty funny.

How Ted Cruz should respond:

I’ll gladly meet with Sen. McConnell and my Republican colleagues in the Senate to give them the opportunity to make amends to me, to help them heal the divide that they created between them and their Republican base.
