For the conservative movement, Ted Cruz was going to be a savior. The anointed one. His father told us that Ted was “anointed…to bring the spoils of war to the Priests.” The congregation of the New Beginnings Church in Irving, Texas, laid hands on Ted and he was invited to speak in tongues. And the high priests of National Review solemnly said “amen.”

Like Cummings’ Buffalo Bill, Ted would “ride a watersmooth-silver stallion” and break Donald Trump. Because the self-styled conservative movement had pronounced Ted to be an authentic “constitutionalist,” and nothing else mattered.

"My stripe" is making sure, as much as I can, that Hillary is defeated. The difference between my stripe and Cruzers is that I have no conceptions of Trump as a pure saviour. Beating Hillary, building the wall, stopping the Muslim invasion, is more than enough. He's an alpha acting like an alpha and talking like an alpha. That doesn't make him Mussolini, Hitler or Stalin. It's been so long since we had a genuine alpha President, though, everyone's wetting their pants over his lack of navel gazing.

Rafael held Canadian citizenship until 2014.

His father was Cuban and did not become naturalized until recently.

Anyone with half a brain knows he will not win a majority of delegates this go-round. His role is to help the GOPe attempt to deny Trump a majority. For Cruz to get a majority, he'd have to win Florida or Ohio, do well in in IL and MO, then go north and win a whole bunch of states like NY, CT and NJ. Then, finish off with a WTA win in California. Ain't gonna happen. Best case for GOPe is Trump and Cruz both get in the 1100s, with the remaining few hundred split between Kasich and Little Marco. And that is a stretch.

That Ted is working with Neil Bush and the GOPe's narrative tells me he is all in with the GOPe. The only question is whether he thinks that he can get the nomination by playing along. If he does, he is just not as smart as we all thought. After tomorrow, when his hopes for a majority are shattered, we will see whether Cruz becomes petulant or smart. His choice will determine whether he has a future, or will be a one and done Senator.

The difference with Obama (if he had been born in Kenya or Canada as many people suspected), is that his mother was not old enough to confer citizenship to her child under US law as it existed in 1960. Cruz was born a US citizen under US law in 1970. The question for Cruz is a little different—it’s whether being born a citizen is the same as being a natural born citizen for purposes of the Presidency. That issue has never been adjucated.
