The meme out there all over the cables is that TRUMP, “the candidate”, “encourages”, “urges”, his crowds to “punch people in the face”....
To my ear that is word-for-word what Cruz said last night in his press conference.
Surely you do realize the difference at these rallies, between when TRUMP is speaking to the crowd and when he is speaking to his dang security forces???
It matters who he is talking to.
All I can say is that you hear what you hear and I hear what I hear.
One of us is lying.
To my ear that is word-for-word what Cruz said last night in his press conference.
After last night, the Cruz campaign came to an end.
What he said, as you might have heard had you been paying attention, is that the responsibility for the riots rests entirely with the rioters.
However, there is a culture around the Trump campaign that seems to encourage violence, whether it’s saying he wants to punch a protester in the face or encouraging his supporters to “take out” disrupters (and he clearly doesn’t mean outside), or the attack on Michelle Fields (by someone in hsi entourage — whom Fields is convinced is the campaign manager), ort any of a number of other things.
That doesn’t excuse what happened last night in Chicago (and I would like to see Senator Sanders address it, since most of them seem to be his supporters) — but it does help explain it. The seeds you plant grow, and you can’t plant strawberries and expect to get grapes.
When you create that kind of a culture, intentionally or not, you have to expect that you’re going to get that kind of result.
