It is going to be tough for Donald Trump‘s detractors to argue that he isn’t a conservative now.
Conservative author, activist and icon Phyllis Schlafly today in St. Louis gave her endorsement to Trump for president.
“I asked him to stand by the Republican platform because we have the best conservative platform we’ve ever had and he endorses it. He will stand by it. He is a real conservative and I ask you to support him,” she said to a raucous ovation.
“I’m confident that Donald Trump will appoint judges like (Antonin) Scalia,” she added.
Schlafly said that “we’ve been following the losers for so long,” but that would change with Trump.
“Now we’ve got a guy who’s gonna lead us to victory!” she said.
The endorsement came on the same day Dr. Ben Carson gave his support to the Republican presidential front-runner who, at this point, looks unstoppable.

I started out with Trump/Cruz as a ticket which could give conservatism a 16 year run. Then Cruz hooked up with Glen Beck, and then what he did to Carson. On top of that all the preachy bs. I finally just gave up on him.
Well, in that case I am a youngster. My first presidential election was 1968. I was in Vietnam, voted for Nixon by absentee ballot.
Why do you keep projecting thoughts upon my mind that are utter nonsense, and then calling ME delusional?
Trump’s populist parade is just fine with his proposals, by very definition. You can take the extreme swings that these proposals have incurred on the way to becoming soup as norms, but you are only fooling yourself and other people who want to pre-damn Trump. And yes I say soup. If I dumped that packet of Campbell’s instant soup in your bowl you’d say blech, what a dry soup. But of course, it hasn’t been mixed or cooked yet.
And before you bemoan the state of faith in the USA too deeply, and especially before you declare its demise, you might notice that a weak church and a dead church aren’t
the same thing.
One of the factors that weakened the church in the last century or so (and as bespoken by Prohibition) was an excessive love of the mixture of Caesar and Church affairs. I know what I’m talking about. FDR sold Social Security the same way — through church support he slyly drummed up.
The only way to get the church back was to remove the breast of Caesar from it. Hence our “godless” schools, etc. But they never needed to be godless! The bible way of filling them with godliness would have been through believing kids. And a few intrepid Christian parents are FINALLY getting the idea... and I look at it (mainly on Facebook, which means even that dirtied medium is good for some useful things) and say... where were you many decades ago. Teach the mouths of babes to praise, and God will be wherever they go. It doesn’t have to be “punished in” at all, in the vast majority of cases. Usually kids learn exactly what was lived out before them, and if it’s radical Christ, then that’s what they get. But if it’s diluted world, then that’s what they get too.
As with Mark Twain, the reports of the church’s demise have been highly exaggerated. However, it’s not going to be eating at the king’s table. It never should have. Daniel of the Old Testament knew better. So should we.

Those are Jesus' Words. He is speaking TO THE CHURCH. A weak church. A lukewarm church. A weak church is good for nothing and will be trampled underfoot by men and their institutions, EXACTLY as the Founders warned would happen, because they understood the scriptures this people no longer consider valid.
And I watch a weak church filled with indifferent Christians put all their faith into making a man a king to stop the very tyranny they have not only enabled, but have grown comfortable with.
You can lie to yourself all you like, and tell yourself and others that your man is the political savior that will restore a Republic that no longer exists. Either you will never see the truth, or by the time you do, it will be too late for you and yours.
Gold, refined in the fires of tribulation is what is what this people and the church has sown for us all. This election circus is just another of many consequences we are yet to endure.
So what’s this nonsense. It is not manifest destiny that Jesus can’t be the king of enough of America to make a difference to the radical good.
However it is simple theological truth that America isn’t a divine covenant country, nor was it ever such a thing, and the result of attempting to treat it like that, was like the mix of iron and clay in the feet of the idols described in the book of Daniel. This mix is not strong and it will separate under stress. I think a “candid world” knew that having race based chattel slavery in its constitution was not all that auspicious a start for the USA. But the patina of religiosity will whitewash things exactly like that! Keep your churches pure (purer, at least) and you will find Jesus rubbing off on everybody. God hates this ceremonial religion. His attitude is more like, be pagan or be Christian, but don’t be something synthetic.
You are putting words in my mouth once more. What’s this arrant nonsense about Trump saving America? Big fat strawman that deserves to be set on hell fire!
Trump will be valuable, I have the strongest hunch, because he will MAKE ROOM FOR THE CHURCH.
Not attempt to MINISTER THE CHURCH TO AMERICA which both conservatives AND liberals have claimed to do! Yes, liberals too!
My reference scripture would be where Jesus told the people to clear out of the room where He was about to revive the dead child. And He used very strong language that meant to clear out so as to make room. They obeyed, too.
Too much of this horrible church/Caesar mix has finally brought God’s patience to an end.
And if you can get out of your confusion long enough to read Romans 13, that sounds an awful lot like (if not totally identical to) most of what Trump is proposing. Things having to do with earthly law and order, and oh yes, a bully pulpit for Christians and others who do good....

Trump is one PIECE of a solution that God is putting together. Let Caesar be Caesar! Let the church be the church! Watch them operate in a new harmony that was written by heaven, not by men!
In the long term, we shouldn’t have Caesar as deep into our health care as now. However some kind of bridge needs to bring us back from the island of absurdity where Obamacare went. Trumpcare should not be seen as a forever and ever thing. Just the best mitigation for the evil worked by Obamacare that is possible, until the church actually does come back and resume its charitable role.
You won’t see this overnight. But God has a plan and I smell it in the wind.

As to a covenant country, most of the Founders, including Washington and Adams made it perfectly clear that an immoral or a non-religious people are not capable of maintaining either liberty or a Republic. If a people are not self-governed by God, they will be ruled by tyrants they make their kings. HERE WE ARE.
You rightly say that God hates ceremonial religion. America has created Jesus into it's own cultural image and likeness, accepting the insistence that religion and God must be made separate from all things and kept private in it's proper place in a box in church on Sundays.

People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of religion but having no power whatsoever." God is very angry, and so am I, that you with much of political America are embracing a synthetic Caesar/church amalgam and then using that presumption as the basis of your thinking.
You lie and misrepresent when you say I challenge the scripture. I challenge your MISUSE of scripture. Just spouting something from the bible does not make it applicable.
The answer for America is very SIMPLE. Let Caesar be Caesar. Let the church be the church. Let the Caesar involvement with the church be a Romans 13 involvement. Speaks well of it when it does well.
America got off on the wrong foot. We are talking about undoing the wrong of centuries, not decades.
And as for last times... take that with a huge grain of salt. To the Lord “a thousand years are as a day and a day is as a thousand years.” Last times in some sense were being spoken of while Paul was still alive. 2000 years or so have passed. Get the idea that God might think on a geological scale? And that America might not even be a main player in actual end times, let alone the center of this sturm and drang? And if it isn’t, it will be because it kept on embracing this arrant nonsense that I have urged that it leave. It got too stuck up on itself as a “church of a nation” and never could envision any other state of affairs... and proceeded to slowly fail.
It is the easiest, laziest thing in the world, when your theology gets challenged, to scream “END OF THE WORLD!” and not try to learn something new.

I recall how you Trump acolytes went berserk when Cruz and God were put together in the same sentence. My, my how things are permitted to change when convenient.
As to Trump being a solution that God is putting together, (never mind Trump's own fruits were in support of everything from adultery to abortion) The Colonists were wise enough to recognize they were suffering the tyranny of the Crown because they as a people had sinned. Unlike Trump they were wise enough to make public petitions for repentance and not insist that having their little cracker and wine is their form of absolution.
Trump may indeed be used by God, but not how you assume. God always gives a wayward people, a weak congregation over to their desires, which always, without exception - destroys them.
You want a “religion” that constantly has Caesars everywhere mouthing public pieties, which is what is expected to be filling up the public square.
Now if that wasn’t a “form of religion but denying its power” I don’t know what is. You’d need a religious test in the Constitution to even make this fly any other way.
If the church actually talked like Jesus, it wouldn’t have any problem getting noticed in the public square. Fretting over a creche at City Hall misses the point. Put the blessed thing up on a billboard! Modern ages bring modern means.

As I understand it, America no longer exists by the time the curtain goes up on the End of the Age.
Unlike you however, I understand the historical fact that this nation and the liberty we once had were given as a gift for the purpose of the Church in the Wilderness to preach the Gospel to the world without the hindrance of kings, and our destiny was in our own hands based on the writings of the Patriarchs and the Founders of themselves.
I think you lie about me — I acknowledge that many circumstances, America only one of them, have served as vehicles for the gospel. However I deny anything more than the kind of historical arrangement that God can do for any country.
We shouldn’t be throwing up our hands screaming “End of the Age” with the very first challenge, however. Jesus said the fields were white for harvest, looking out unto eternity. Souls to be saved? Well keep going! We’ll look pretty stupid if we say “Trump is the demise of a gospel America” and it proves untrue for a very long season.
In many ways a gospel America could fit very WELL with a Trump vision for being Caesar. You keep belittling me about the idea, which does not make your position any more righteous.
You are the one who admitted that God is giving you Trump as a political savior… er- "one piece" of a SOLUTION.
