Yes, Cruz was candidate Bush’s domestic policy advisor as Bush was campaigning on promises to oppose amnesty. After the election, he went back to Texas. Bush broke the pledge to oppose amnesty, but the promises Cruz written were immensely helpful in rallying the country to reject Bush’s 2007 amnesty. Based on the brokenness of the pledge, we were able to convince the American public not to believe Bush’s promises he made in exchange for amnesty in his “Comprehensive Immigration Reform.”

That’s right: without Cruz, we would have had amnesty in 2007.
