PITTSBURGH (KDKA) Nearly 46,000 Pennsylvania Democrats have switched to Republicans since the beginning of the year.
According to Penn Live, some experts attribute the mass exodus to Donald Trump.
Theres even a title for the movement. Its called Ditch and Switch and calls for lifelong Democrats to abandon the party, register Republican, and help ensure Trumps place in the general election.
Professor of Public Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College, Dr. G. Terry Madonna, tells the paper he has a theory behind the switch.
With the increase in support in exit polls for Trump among working class, blue-collar Democrats, it is my belief that these are people who fall into that genre, said Madonna.
The numbers are similar in other states as well.

His name is Drumpf. I’m not going to live in and alternate reality painted by a conman.
It’s certainly easier to imagine I’m a Democrat than dealing with the reality that Drumpf has created. We have a front-runner of the primary who many conservatives have vowed to never support. Why is that? Why does Drumpf up the ante of bad behavior, knowing he’s pushing more people into #NeverTrump mode?
They cheat so much here.If you want to win you have to be way ahead.
I don’t believe that the polls are being fabricated.
The trends among the liberals are to stop Trump from being the nominee rather than encouraging it.
I think the poll deficit is because of typical Republican voters who say they’ll sit out if Trump is the nominee.
If you can’t even get his name right, why are we to believe you get anything else right?
Vast Left Wing Conspiracy I’ll bet. LOL
Did the blue collar Dems back in 1980 vote for Reagan because he was a conservative or because they saw a strong man who could fix the troubles facing the country?
Reagan and Drumpf, no comparison. None. It’s completely dishonest to suggest there is. There is no way the motivations of Drumpf voters has any similarity with the motivations of Reagan voters.
Don't think that's possible. Obama is a rigid ideologue that doesn't give a rip about other people.
I think Trump will concentrate his efforts on trade and likely immigration and have very competent people in his cabinet working on the other stuff.
I would expect progress from Trump but would likely take the form of what we've seen in the past from 'normal' presidents.
Trump would govern from a business/common sense point of view which may not always align perfectly with conservative values.
But then again, that's not much different from a Ted Cruz who has supported things like HEAD Start.
I have no access to means and methods of convincing people who are convinced by Drumpf’s brain farts. I’m not making any attempt to convince you.
No, my opinion.
But calling Cruz both hated by the GOPe and part of the GOPe is valid, consistent, thoughtful discussion, correct? Both cannot be true, so one must be false. Agitprop, indeed.
“We have a front-runner of the primary who many conservatives have vowed to never support. Why is that?’
Because they are rigid arseholes who put their pure holier-than-thou-nose-in-the-air elitist GOP party BEFORE their country.
That’s just one reason.
I’ve often thought in Oregon that “Red Counties” out East should withhold turning in their tallies until Multnomah Co. (Portland) is 100%. That’s where the machine “ensures victory”. Why make it easy for them.
I have never said that GOPe hated him. He has been a career long government employee that is pretty establishment. With the new Bush group on board there is no doubt except to his ardent followers.
You know Bush opposed him in his Senate race primary, right? How does your theory of being in alignment hold up against that fact?
Or because of Hillary, or because of Bernie, or because of Obama, or because of....
They are all back together now and Cruz has long been part of the Bush dynasty. Lots of the political critters run against each other but are still part of the elite cabal. But then you know that.
or.... “a hundred cans of beer on the bus... a hundred cans of beeeerrrrrr....
So past associations matter to Cruz, but not for Trump?
so you’re just here to throw around feces.
